Text: 1 Kings 22:1-40
Intro: Our Story takes place around 853 BC. Ahab is King of Israel at the time. King Ahab is known as the most immoral and wicked King in all of Israels history. He is know for the marrying of a pagan wife, Jezebel, which was prohibited by Deut. 7:1-6. This union predictably led to widespread acceptance of idolatrous practices, luring the children of Israel way from Yahweh, whom they were in covenant with. This saw a major rise in worship to baal and Asherah. This led to widespread persecution of Yahweh’s prophets by Jezebels hand. of the few left, Elijah was one. But there was another, The prophet Micaiah. I like Micaiah and i wish i knew more about him. Micaiah is introduced into the Biblical narrative right as Ahab is about to play his final scenes.

Micaiah: Never Good News
Micaiah: Never Good News
Sometimes bad news is just what you need to hear
one of the commendable things about Micaiah is he is not afraid to disappoint the king
you'll find people that want to be flattered in their sin
they want to be told their marriage is a good thing, not an abomination before God. They want to be celebrated for their hatred, not told it is condemn able. They want to be told that they can live whatever kind of life they want, not that they will be judged by God for their actions. They want to be lifted up by society for their perversion of children, not that they have a milestone waiting for them with their name on it.
it is in bad news that we course correct
but he is refusing it

Therefore, speak to them and tell them, ‘This is what the Lord GOD says: When anyone from the house of Israel sets up idols in his heart and puts his sinful stumbling block in front of himself, and then comes to the prophet, I, the LORD, will answer him appropriately.A I will answer him according to his many idols,

On King Ahab: Some people choose to be lied to. never prefer a lie over the truth
for them, their only conviction is pleasing words. Their only praise is for themselves. their only truth is what they say and their only reality is what they determine. But the truth seeker wants whats true no matter what needs to be fixed in their lives, no matter how much confessing of wrong they must do, and no matter how much it hurts.
