Titus 3:1-5
Remind them to be subject to rulers and authorities, to obey, to be ready for every good work, to speak evil of no one, to be peaceable, gentle, showing all humility to all men. For we ourselves were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another. But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
We are living in a time where me must be awake to the facts that there is a tremendous task that is set before us, it is vital that we are in revival not only as a church but as individuals.
We can have a tremendous revivals but I feel that before that can happen we ought to first be renewed in the Holy Ghost, find that undimmed and undiluted "First Love".
We must find that first Love and persist in it.
We can have what we want in souls and size, power and manifestations of the Spirit if we are willing to pay the price.
God has matched us with a precious time in which He is promising the greatest gift to humanity.
The Baptism of the Holy Ghost.
He Is promising revival to us.
We cannot play Gospel Games.
We are in a revolutionary Hour, we must be a revolutionary Church.
People are going to hell in a hand basket as you can say.
This ought to concern us as Christians especially bible college students.
We are the generation that the past generations are depending on we cannot afford to drop the ball, If it were a baseball game id say that the bases are loaded.
We are to bring this home.
There is tremendous task before us.
Titus 3:5
Two paths are outlined in this passage of Scripture.
First Regeneration
Then the Renewal of the Holy Ghost.
Regeneration is what God does for us spiritually.
Renewal is what we do for ourselves though seeking and pressing for deeper and closer experiences with the Lord.
I assume we are all regenerated here so I wont go into that but allow me to talk about renewal.
We must be faithful to the regeneration process, this happens to the sinner and renewal to the saint.
Don't you think it is strange that a new comer at times to this Gospel truth has produced more for the cause of Christ than professional attitude of a well settled saints?
There is a power and an excitement that accompanies the Baptism of the Holy Ghost. There is a zeal, passion and thrill that usually comes with the Holy Ghost.
When we become prayer less students, indifferent people, and when we are totally barren of the fruit and gifts of the Spirit, when our worship is done half hearted when we have a hard time being faithful to the house of God, we are in need of renewal.
There is an absolute necessity of a constant reaching for recharging and re-baptism of the initial experience.
This renewing will not come automatically.
We cannot fall into the attitude where we want God to pour everything on us with out first digging up the trench in which the Spirit of God will be channeled.
There are times we are going to have to dig it out lonely in prayer we are going to have to dig it out with self denial and sacrifice.
We tend to always want something to happen then we get up.
The Church world believes this.
Show us a sign then we will believe.
Joshua was told to "be strong"
"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” ( Joshua 1:9)
Hazaq Meaning to put forth strength or effort. God wants us to put forth our effort.
He was going to have to engage in battles to obtain the promise, there are promises that God has offered us and in order to get them we are going to have to fight for em.
There are so many things that teach us the importance of renewal.
1.The Human Body teaches us on renewal
We are made up of cells, with in the cell wall there is like a tiny chemical factory that constantly takes in raw material and transform it into cell walls.
Cells are constantly dying and being replaced in the body and are washed from the surface every time we bathe.
We need to constantly bath or wed smell, I believe we constantly need to be renewed so that the Lord can wash away our odory attitudes and all uncleanliness.
2.Cars teach us renewal
Talk about a trip to New York from cali somewhere along the road we are going to have to stop to pump gas.
Ive yet not found a truck that runs with everlasting gas.
Mathew 9:16-17
"No one puts a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old garment; for the patch pulls away from the garment, and the tear is made worse. Nor do they put new wine into old wineskins, or else the wineskins break, the wine is spilled, and the wineskins are ruined. But they put new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved.”
"Cannot put new in old"
Wineskins were created from animal products usually goats, the wine maker would pour in the wine in the wine skin it would expand and after it got fermented the wineskin would harden and so after it was poured out you couldn't use it the following year because if you poured new wine the wine will expand and since the wineskin was no longer elastic it would break.
Through out our walk with God we begin to pour out and then become empty.
God wants to do a new work in all of our lives.
Will you let Him?
We cannot Give God what we have always given Him.
Conclusion
Joshua 5:6
For the children of Israel walked forty years in the wilderness, till all the people who were men of war, who came out of Egypt, were consumed...
God needs us to be warriors in this generation.
Past generations are hanging on this generation and are depending on us to fulfill the will of God, we cannot fail them and God.
When we go back home our Pastor, our youth, our family does not want to see a halfhearted laxidasical, struggling to make it to church cat. They want to see us on fire for God.
I know we want to get rest but our refreshing comes from the HolyGhost.
We have several weeks before we go home. we have plenty of time to have new experiences with God and leave this college incinerated and completely on fire for God.
Full of passion, and Zeal for the things concerning the Lord
