The Difference a Believer Can Make

2 Peter 2:4-6 “For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but cast them into hell and committed them to chains of gloomy darkness to be kept until the judgment; if he did not spare the ancient world, but preserved Noah, a herald of righteousness, with seven others, when he brought a flood upon the world of the ungodly; if by turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah to ashes he condemned them to extinction, making them an example of what is going to happen to the ungodly;”

Jude 6-7 “And the angels who did not stay within their own position of authority, but left their proper dwelling, he has kept in eternal chains under gloomy darkness until the judgment of the great day— just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding cities, which likewise indulged in sexual immorality and pursued unnatural desire, serve as an example by undergoing a punishment of eternal fire.”

The Godly line of Seth intermarrying with the ungodly line of Cain.

Demon possessed rulers who married whomever they wanted.

Don’t miss the point:

Ungodly marriages leads to the destruction of a society.

There are multiple of examples of ungodly marriages or relationships leading to the downward spiral of society:

Here in Genesis

The Israelites marrying pagan wives that turned their hearts away from God

Romans 1 and homosexuality.

The people were evil in both thoughts and deeds.

God Pronounces Judgement

God announces a judgement in 120 years.

God regretted that He had made man.

God determines to blot out man.

God was grieved by the sin of man.

But Noah . . .

Had been saved by the grace of God.

His life evidenced salvation by the descriptions that Noah:

Was a righteous man

Was blameless in his generation

Noah walked with God

An Important Lesson from this text:

The greatest way we can battle the downward spiral of our society is by walking with God.

Only God can turn a society around.

God will only use people who walk with Him.
