Introduction
I want to share with you today some
biblical principles of sowing and
reaping so that we will faithfully steward
the resources that God has entrusted into
our care and enjoy the rewards of His
blessing.
God wants you to be a good steward and
manage what He has given to
you out of your love for Him. But He has
also promised to respond to your
honoring of Him with that which is called
a reward. Paul writes clearly concerning
rewards in his letter to the church at
Corinth, in 1 Corinthians 3:12- 14 Now if
any man build upon this foundation gold,
silver, precious stones, wood, hay,
stubble;
13 Every man's work shall be made
manifest: for the day shall declare it,
because it shall be revealed by fire; and
the fire shall try every man's work of what
sort it is.
14 If any man's work abide which he hath
built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.
God wants us to live in the now but with a
future mindset. A future that is spent with
him in eternity.
1 - Gal. 6:7 Be not deceived;
Don’t be fooled by Satan’s smooth words.
Gen 3:3 But of the fruit of the tree which
is in the midst of the garden, God hath
said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye
touch it, lest ye die.
Gen 3:4 And the serpent said unto the
woman, Ye shall not surely die:
Gen 3:5 For God doth know that in the
day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be
opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing
good and evil. *
There are also people in the world who
have the spirit of the deceiver.
2 John 1:7 For many deceivers are
entered into the world, who confess not
that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This
is a deceiver and an antichrist. *
2 - Don’t play God.
Vs 7 God is not mocked. Mocked means
To outwit or to outfox. To disobey God’s
commands and then escape divine
punishment would be to outwit God, thus
making a mockery of him and His Word.
Life in the Spirit Study Bible.
3 - What are you planting?
Vs 7c - 8a for whatsoever a man soweth,
that shall he also reap.
Gal 6:8 For he that soweth to his flesh
shall of the flesh reap corruption;
Soweth means what you do or practice.
Reap mean to be requited or
recompensed. In this text the Galatians
could not disregard the command to
support their instructors in righteousness
and escape divine discipline.
Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians & Colossians (B. Freedom to Share Financial Resources (vv. 6–10))
Each of us by our thoughts, attitudes,
and actions is constantly planting for a
future reaping. Time may pass before
the crop ripens, but the harvest is
inevitable.
For he that now soweth to the flesh, that
is to follow the desires of our corrupt
nature. Shall hereafter reap of the flesh.
Out of this very seed you will reap
corruption - Death everlasting.
But he that soweth to the Spirit - That
follows God’s guidance in all of ones
attitudes and life style. Shall of the Spirit -
By the free grace and power of God, reap
life everlasting.
Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through
faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the
gift of God:
4 - What you plant determines what you harvest
You can’t plant corn and expect to harvest
beans. If you want to be loved then sow
love in the right field. I f you want the fruit
of the Spirit found in Galatians 5:22 - 23,
then you must sow to the Spirit. That is
the Holy Spirit if he is in you.
Job 4:8 Even as I have seen, they that
plow iniquity, and sow wickedness, reap
the same.
2Co 9:6 But this I say, He which soweth
sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he
which soweth bountifully shall reap also
bountifully.
Rom 8:13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye
shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do
mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall
live.
Gal 5:16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit,
and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
Hos 10:12 Sow to yourselves in
righteousness, reap in mercy; break up
your fallow ground: for it is time to seek
the LORD, till he come and rain
righteousness upon you.
And ye shall reap in mercy. Fallow ground
- Our hearts can be as the ground over -
run with weeds, which need to be plowed
and broken up, that good seed may be
sowed in them. And rain - The rain is God
pouring out the fruits of his goodness and
mercy.
Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians & Colossians (B. Freedom to Share Financial Resources (vv. 6–10))
Galatians 6:9 And let us not be weary in
well doing: for in due season we shall
reap, if we faint not.
