MESSAGE OF EASTER

Mark 16:1-8 (KJV)

1 And when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him.

2 And very early in the morning the first day of the week, they came unto the sepulchre at the rising of the sun.

3 And they said among themselves, Who shall roll us away the stone from the door of the sepulchre?

4 And when they looked, they saw that the stone was rolled away: for it was very great.

5 And entering into the sepulchre, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, clothed in a long white garment; and they were affrighted.

6 And he saith unto them, Be not affrighted: Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him.

7 But go your way, tell his disciples and Peter that he goeth before you into Galilee: there shall ye see him, as he said unto you.

8 And they went out quickly, and fled from the sepulchre; for they trembled and were amazed: neither said they any thing to any man; for they were afraid.

IN MANY CASES GOD USED ANGEL TO ANNOUNCE AN EVENT THAT WAS FIXING TO TAKE PLACE.

GEN-ANGEL ANNOUNCED THE DESTRUCTION OF SODOM/GHAMORRAH

JUDGES-ANGEL ANNOUNCED THE BIRTH OF SAMSON

NT-ANGEL ANNOUNCED THE CONCEPTION AND BIRTH OF JOHN THE BAPTIST.

ANGEL ANNOUNCED THE CONCEPTION OF JESUS

HOST OF ANGELS ANNOUCED THE BIRTH OF CHRIST

AND HERE IN OUR TEXT…AN ANGEL ANNOUNCES THE RESURRECTION OF JESUS.

THIS ANNOUNCEMENT IS REALLY THE GOSPEL. THE GOOD NEWS OF JESUS CHRIST

THE ANNOUNCEMENT WAS MADE IN A TOMB.

THAT LITERALLY RECEIVED AND GAVE UP JESUS CHRIST.

…HE WENT IN THE TOMB DEAD…

…BUT HE CAME OUT ALIVE…

THE GOSPEL IS THE GOOD NEWS THAT HE WENT IN DEAD…

BUT HE CAME OUT ALIVE….

I WAS DEAD IN MY TRESPASSES AND SIN

BUTI HAVE BEEN MADE ALIVE BY THE POWER OF GOD IN THE PERSON OF JESUS CHRIST.

THESE WOMEN CAME TO THE TOMB TO ANOINT

NOT TO EMBALM…

ANOINTING WAS TO BE DONE AT THE TIME OF BURIAL…

…BUT BECAUSE IT WAS LATE AND THE SABBATH WAS UPON THEM, IT WAS DONE AFTER THE SABBATH.

THESE WOMEN WAS DOING BELATELY IN MARK 16,

WHAT A WOMAN DID PREMATURELY IN MARK 14,

IT WAS AN ACT OF LOVE AND DEVOTION IN BOTH CASES…

BUT ONE DID IT EARLY

THE OTHERS WERE TO LATE,

…THE EMPTY TOMB IS NOT PROOF THAT HE LIVES…

A RISEN SAVIOR IS PROOF THAT THE TOMB IS EMPTY.

…WE ARE HERE TODAY BECAUSE WE SERVE A RISEN SAVIOR…

AND I KNOW THAT BECAUSE HE LIVES IN MY HEART.

THE WOMEN WERE WORRIED ABOUT THE STONE…WHO WOULD ROLE IT AWAY?

BUT IF HUMANITY WOULD HAVE MOVED THE STONE, THEY WOULD HAVE PLAYED A ROLL IN THE RESURRECTION.

BUT GOD DIDN’T NEED A WORKER..

GOD WANTED A WITNESS…

SALVATION IS NOT ABOUT WORKS…

GOD DOES THE WORK

WE JUST BECOME WITNESSES…

…AND WHEN THEY CAME TO THE TOMB…

THE STONE WAS ROLLED AWAY-

NOT TO LET JESUS OUT …

BUT TO THE WOMEN IN…

LET THE WITNESSES IN.

BECAUSE THE RESURRECTION ALWAYS IS A COMPANIED BY A WITNESS…

I AM HERE THIS MORNING NOT BECAUSE ITS EASTER BUT BECAUSE HE RESURRECTED MY LIFE.

AND THE ANGEL HAD AN EASTER MESSAGE OF PEACE…POWER…POTENTIAL…AND PROMISE.

PEACE-BE NOT AFFRIGHTED

JESUS CAME TO BE A SUBSTITUTE…

A PROPITATION…

JESUS CAME AS SATISFACTION FOR OUR SIN DEBT…

AND BECAUSE GOD RAISED HIM FROM THE DEAD…

EVERY TRUE BELIEVER HAS PEACE…

NOT HAPPINESS PER SAY…

HAPPINESS DEPENDS ON CIRCUMSTANCES…

PEACE IS FROM GOD.

EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENS IN LIFE TO US DON’T MAKE US HAPPY…

KIDS LOST…

CANCER…

HEART PROBLEMS…

BUT THOUGH IT DOESN’T MAKE YOU HAPPY

YOU CANE STILL SLEEP AT NIGHT

BECAUSE GOD SETTLES YOU DOWN

AND GIVES YOU A PEACE THAT PASSETH ALL UNDERSTANDING.

…GOD DON’T ALWAYS FIX THE SITUATION

BUT HE WILL FIX ME IN THE SITUATION…

POWER- HE HAS RISEN

WHEN PILATE CONFRONTED JESUS AND SAID MANY THINGS…

JESUS DIDN’T SAY A WORD

WHEN PILATE SAID I HAVE POWER TO TAKE YOUR LIFE…

HE SPOKE UP THEN AND SAID…

John 19:11 (KJV) 11  Jesus answered, Thou couldest have no power at all against me, except it were given thee from above: therefore he that delivered me unto thee hath the greater sin.

John 10:18 (KJV) 18  No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.

BECAUSE HE IS RISEN IN GREAT POWER

THEN HE HAS THE POWER TO DO WHAT HE WANTS.

POTENTIAL- HE IS NOT HERE

HE IS NOT HERE…HE IS RISEN…COME SEE THE PLACE WHERE HE LAID.

HE IS NOT HERE…

AND THE REASON HE IS NOT HERE IS HE IS RISEN

HE IS RISEN BECAUSE HE HAS POWER…

AND THE EVIDENCE OF HIS POWER IS HE IS NOT HERE..

REPEAT…

WHEN HE WAS IN BETHANY HE COULD NOT BE IN GALILEE.

HE WAS RESTRAINED BY TIME AND SPACE…

BUT THAT WAS PRE RESURRECTION

BUT POST RESURRECTION HE IS NOT HERE HE IS RISEN…

…BUT BECAUSE HE IS NOT HERE DOES NOT MEAN HE IS NOT ANYWHERE.

THAT HAS POTENTIAL FOR ME AND YOU.

THE LAST TIME THEY SAW HIM WAS IN THE TOMB…

BUT THE POTENTIAL FOR EVERYBODY IS BECAUSE HE GOT UP…

AND BECAUSE HE LIVES I CAN LIVE ALSO…

AND I CAN HAVE THE SAME TESTIMONY COME SEE THE PLACE WHERE I WAS LAID.

…AND IF YOU COME SEE THE PLACE WHERE I WAS LAID…

BUT I AM NOT THERE ANYMORE…

ILL. BRO MICHAEL TESTIFIED WEDNESDAY

AND SAID COME SEE THE PLACE WHERE I WAS LAID…

BUT I AINT THERE ANYMORE.

HIS PEACE AND HIS POWER GIVES YOU GREAT POTENTIAL…

HE WILL TAKE YOU FROM WHERE USE TO BE AND RAISE YOU TO WHERE YOU CAN REALLY LIVE.

BUT JUST BECAUSE THERE IS POTENTIAL DOES NOT MEAN YOU WILL…

PRIDE WILL KEEP A MAN FROM LETTING GOD RAISE HIM UP.

BUT THERE ARE SOME OF US WHO DON’T HAVE ANYTHING TO LOSE…I NEED JESUS

THE ANGELS’ MESSAGE OF PEACE, POWER, POTENTIAL AND

PROMISE- TELL MY DISCIPLES AND PETER.

Mark 16:7 (KJV) 7  But go your way, tell his disciples and Peter that he goeth before you into Galilee: there shall ye see him, as he said unto you.

PETER HAD DENIED HIM 3 TIMES

TELL MY PEOPLE AND PETER…

PETER OR WHOEVER HAS FAILED, HAS PROBLEMS, COME UP SHORT, …MEET ME!!!

BECAUSE OF THE RESURRECTION I CAN COME AND MEET JESUS…

YOU OUGHT TO HAVE SEEN ME BEFORE JESUS GOT HIS HANDS ON ME…

YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT I WAS BEFORE I MET THE LORD…

AND BECAUSE THERE HAS BEEN A RECURRECTION IN MY LIFE…

I WANT TO BE A WITNESS.
