#1 What is a believer?
#1 What is a believer?
Is it someone who simply believes in God’s/Christ’s existence?
Believing in the Son - Jn 20:30-31 “Therefore many other signs Jesus also performed in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; but these have been written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you may have life in His name.”
Continous belief - Jn 17:20-21 ““I do not ask on behalf of these alone, but for those also who believe in Me through their word; that they may all be one; even as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me.”
Jn 12:46 ““I have come as Light into the world, so that everyone who believes in Me will not remain in darkness.”
Acts 2:44 “And all those who had believed were together and had all things in common;”
Acts 5:14 “And all the more believers in the Lord, multitudes of men and women, were constantly added to their number,”
Acts 16:1 “Paul came also to Derbe and to Lystra. And a disciple was there, named Timothy, the son of a Jewish woman who was a believer, but his father was a Greek,”
#2 What does “belief in Christ” mean for us?
#2 What does “belief in Christ” mean for us?
Worship, Service, Giving etc.? [Usually performance driven, not emphasizing the heart of the person]
Love for truth - Jn 8:31 “So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, “If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine;” [notice how belief is linked to HIS words*]
Love God’s will - Jn 4:34 “Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me and to accomplish His work.” (Matt. 7:21)
#3 Will all believers be saved?
#3 Will all believers be saved?
This is a two part question
Not all true beleivers will be saved. Heb 3:12 “Take care, brethren, that there not be in any one of you an evil, unbelieving heart that falls away from the living God.”
Not all who claim to be a believer will be saved. Matt 7:21 ““Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter.”
Matt 7:13-14 ““Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. “For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it.”
