Does God Give Us More Than We Can Bear?

In the midst of trouble and heartache, we often hear people say

"God won't give you more than you bear."

Is that true? Good Question!

God never says He won't put more on us than we bear. Then why do people say it?

It is often confused with 1 Cor. 10:13, a wonderful promise of God that says we won't be tempted beyond what we can bear. But that promise is different from saying "God won't put more on us than we can bear."

Why does God put more on us than we bear?

1. To teach us to depend on His presence. Example: Jonah (Jonah 2).

"Never let the presence of the storm cause you to doubt the presence of God."

2. To teach us to experience His power. Example: Paul (2 Cor. 12).

3. To teach us to rely on His people. Example: Early Christians (Acts 2:45, Philippians 4:14).

Our struggles come from God, ourselves, Satan, sinful world.

But regardless of where they come from, God promises to use our struggles for our good.
