Who’s in your boat.
revealer of secrets!Gen 41:45a And Pharaoh called Joseph's name Zaphnathpaaneah (“Decipherer of Secrets”);
Joseph interpreted dreams and revealed their meaning to those around him, and so Pharaoh gave him the name, Tsofnat Paneach (Zaphnathpaaneah), which means the "Decipherer or Revealer of Secrets." Yeshua (Jesus), at his first advent, coming as the suffering servant or otherwise known as "Mashiach ben Yosef," also came revealing secrets, not as an interpreter of dreams, but as one who disclosed the secrets of men. Yeshua's teaching consistently exposed the innermost thoughts of the heart, forcing them into the light. As the living Word of God, His words, like a sword, cut through deception and went straight to the motives of men. Exposing sin through deep conviction, He presents the opportunity for real and sincere confession. He can then remove those sins through His atoning death.
Friends, Yeshua's insight and the conviction of His word are a gift. If He probes you in the secret places, it's only because He loves you so much and because He wants to reveal His grace and power to cleanse you. When you read His Word or seek Him in prayer, don't be surprised if you discover some of your own secrets, things you may have even hidden from yourself. He will reveal what He wants you to see, what He wants you to confess, and what He wants to help you change. And then, you will also discover a "secret" love He was waiting to show you.

And this is another fine day in the Lord!
John 6:16 When evening came, his disciples went down to the sea, 17 got into a boat, and started across the sea to Capernaum. It was now dark, and Jesus had not yet come to them. 18 The sea became rough because a strong wind was blowing. 19 When they had rowed about three or four miles, they saw Jesus walking on the sea and coming near the boat, and they were frightened. 20 But he said to them, “It is I; do not be afraid.” 21 Then they were glad to take him into the boat, and immediately the boat was at the land to which they were going.
Jesus’ walking on the water is recorded in all three gospels and each account follows the feeding of the 5000.
Now people may look at the different accounts and overlook the fact that these different accounts by different witnesses as we study the gospels and then try to claim that the bible contradicts itself, but here three, Matthew, Mark, and John all had the same experience.
In my thinking here, we do have three separate and distinct writers. Three different personalities writing about what Jesus said and done that they themselves were privy to. Each one writing from different perspectives different things that they, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit wished to convey to its readers. Three all three with him, (the writer Luke was not,) experienced this occasion when they were struggling against the wind and waves early in the morning when seeing this figure approach them.
I might overlook one witness when they tell me such a seemingly outlandish story. Maybe two might have gotten together to pull my leg. Now three accounts makes me believe that something is up.
Some will seek to explain it as it was low tide and Jesus was walking on a sandbar but go try walking on a sandbar for a few miles against the wind and see how far it will get you.
Frightened they thought it a Ghost.
φάντασμα phantasmaa phantom, specter, Mt. 14:26; Mk. 6:49* [5326]
Matthew the Tax collector said that they called out cried out. And were terrified.
The ability to control the waters is that which is attributed to God or even pagan gods.
From the very beginning we find that God Separated the waters from the waters by simply speaking. It was the waters that the Lord caused to break through the surface and flood the earth and then caused it to subside. It was the Lord who parted the waters at both the Red Sea and during the Jordan crossing of Joshua and his armies.
Jesus called for the big catch of fish when fish weren’t known to bite at all on the Galilee which filled up their nets. And it was on the Galilee that Jesus hushed the storm.
Job 38:8–11 (ESV) — 8 “Or who shut in the sea with doors when it burst out from the womb, 9 when I made clouds its garment and thick darkness its swaddling band, 10 and prescribed limits for it and set bars and doors, 11 and said, ‘Thus far shall you come, and no farther, and here shall your proud waves be stayed’?
Psalm 65:7–8 (ESV) — 7 who stills the roaring of the seas, the roaring of their waves, the tumult of the peoples, 8 so that those who dwell at the ends of the earth are in awe at your signs. You make the going out of the morning and the evening to shout for joy.
Psalm 18:15 (ESV) — 15 Then the channels of the sea were seen, and the foundations of the world were laid bare at your rebuke, O Lord, at the blast of the breath of your nostrils.
And might there be an application here that our Jesus can have such control over the chaotic and unpredictable sea?
Psalm 18:16–19 (ESV) — 16 He sent from on high, he took me; he drew me out of many waters. 17 He rescued me from my strong enemy and from those who hated me, for they were too mighty for me. 18 They confronted me in the day of my calamity, but the Lord was my support. 19 He brought me out into a broad place; he rescued me, because he delighted in me.
Have these disciples not yet understood who Jesus is yet?
They were frightened and as Jesus Calmed the waves so does he calm their troubled spirits with the words….
I AM
John 6:20But He *said to them, Ego Eimi “I AM;
Two words spoken by the word comes with emphasis and power as do the two words spoken by the Lord, “I Will”
These two words take the Jewish mind back to the burning bush in Exodus as it was the Lord who replied to Moses
“You tell them, ‘I AM sent you”
The Jewish mind understood that this is the authorization of God.
Ego Eimi is all that makes up the person of the Godhead who is equal with God the Father and God the Holy spirit.
He is the one who holds the attributes of
Sovereignty He rules all
Eternality No beginning and no end
Omniscient complete knowledge
Omnipotent unlimited power
Omnipresent every present at all tmes
Love He loves you and I with a depths that we could never fathom., we will never love God as much as he loves us
Righteousness God is the standard of right
Justice through which he blesses and curses
Immutability He is the same yesterday today and tomorrow. Our Lord is the same that Enoch walked with.
Transcendent he is outside of his creation
Veracity absolute truth, for those who say that there is not absolute truth deny the existence of
God.
This is the EGO EIMI
I AM…
Hebrews 11:6 (ESV) — 6 And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.
Each time Jesus speaks these words…I AM, it is very much his name as Jesus, Yahovah, Immanuel, prince of peace. Yashua.
John 14:6 (ESV) — 6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
John 6:35 (ESV) — 35 Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.
John 15:5 (ESV) — 5 I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.
John 11:25 (ESV) — 25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live,
John 8:57–59 (ESV) — 57 So the Jews said to him, “You are not yet fifty years old, and have you seen Abraham?” 58 Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I am.” 59 So they picked up stones to throw at him, but Jesus hid himself and went out of the temple.
The Jews understood clearly what was meant here, when Jesus identifies himself as, “I AM” for it moved them to stone Jesus.
And there were the guards that came to arrest Jesus on the night that he was betrayed. Lets look at that.
John 18:1–9 (ESV) — 1 When Jesus had spoken these words, he went out with his disciples across the brook Kidron, where there was a garden, which he and his disciples entered. 2 Now Judas, who betrayed him, also knew the place, for Jesus often met there with his disciples. 3 So Judas, having procured a band of soldiers and some officers from the chief priests and the Pharisees, went there with lanterns and torches and weapons. 4 Then Jesus, knowing all that would happen to him, came forward and said to them, “Whom do you seek?” 5 They answered him, “Jesus of Nazareth.” Jesus said to them, “I am he.” Judas, who betrayed him, was standing with them. 6 When Jesus said to them, “I am he,” they drew back and fell to the ground. 7 So he asked them again, “Whom do you seek?” And they said, “Jesus of Nazareth.” 8 Jesus answered, “I told you that I am he. So, if you seek me, let these men go.” 9 This was to fulfill the word that he had spoken: “Of those whom you gave me I have lost not one.”
These men who came to arrest Jesus had earthly authorization but had no power over Jesus whatsoever apart from Jesus permitting God’s will to be done.
What time the seas of trouble becomes too much for me as I am pressing against the wind and waves trying to get my boat to the shore it is my Lord who is the one who identifies himself as I AM. it is he who calms my trouble spirit.
First Jesus identifies himself as I AM
Then having identified himself he gives the command
“Stop being afraid.”
When fear and worry take the dominant role within the soul, it is the blatant denial of the presence of God in your life.
If you do not know Jesus the great I AM you have everything to be afraid of,
War
Decease
Famine
Pestilence
Crime in the streets
All you personal concerns of
Finances
Loneliness
Career
Retirement
People
Marriage
Kids
Politics
church
The more you worry and whatever knocks you off balance mentally, you can expect more of it as you fight against the wind and the waves mentally within your own soul,
Jesus says
I AM it is he who has gotten into your boat, and he says, “Stop Being afraid!”
Before you can relax you have to know who is in your boat who is telling you to stop worrying.
Are you going to listen? or are you going to ignore His rank, disobey his command, and go on to sink in the waves of your despair?
