1. What Does it Mean to Love God?
1. What Does it Mean to Love God?
Deuteronomy 6:4-6 ““Hear, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord is one! “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. “These words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart.”
Deuteronomy 7:9 ““Know therefore that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God, who keeps His covenant and His lovingkindness to a thousandth generation with those who love Him and keep His commandments;”
Deuteronomy 10:12 ““Now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require from you, but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all His ways and love Him, and to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul,”
Deuteronomy 30:15-16 ““See, I have set before you today life and prosperity, and death and adversity; in that I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in His ways and to keep His commandments and His statutes and His judgments, that you may live and multiply, and that the Lord your God may bless you in the land where you are entering to possess it.”
Deuteronomy 30:19-20 ““I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. So choose life in order that you may live, you and your descendants, by loving the Lord your God, by obeying His voice, and by holding fast to Him; for this is your life and the length of your days, that you may live in the land which the Lord swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give them.””
John 14:15 ““If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.”
John 14:21 ““He who has My commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me; and he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and will disclose Myself to him.””
To Love Him means to Keep His Commandments, and Walk in His Ways
Not a legalistic keeping of the law. Not a legalistic keeping of the law. We are not saved by law keeping, we are saved by grace!
But a faithful keeping of the law, in which we keep His law, because we love Him, and therefore we Love His Law.
