Exodus 7-10

REMEMBER GODS PROMISES
Romans 8:28 NASB95
28 And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.
RECAP what God did with Joseph.
SLAVERY
Romans 6:16 NASB95
16 Do you not know that when you present yourselves to someone as slaves for obedience, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin resulting in death, or of obedience resulting in righteousness?
WE NEED TO ASK OURSELVES; WHO DO YOU SERVE?
DOES YOUR HEART BEAT FOR GOD, OR JUST FOR YOUR FLESH?
It is a matter of the heart.
1. YOU SHALL HAVE NO OTHER GOD
Most importantly:
Commandment #1
Exodus 20:3–6 (NASB95)
3 “You shall have no other gods before Me. 4 “You shall not make for yourself an idol, or any likeness of what is in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the water under the earth. 5 “You shall not worship them or serve them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, on the third and the fourth generations of those who hate Me, 6 but showing lovingkindness to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.
Deuteronomy 6:4–5 (NASB95)
4 “Hear, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord is one! 5 “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.
Isaiah 43:10 NASB95
10 “You are My witnesses,” declares the Lord, “And My servant whom I have chosen, So that you may know and believe Me And understand that I am He. Before Me there was no God formed, And there will be none after Me.
Isaiah 45:5–6 NASB95
5 “I am the Lord, and there is no other; Besides Me there is no God. I will gird you, though you have not known Me; 6 That men may know from the rising to the setting of the sun That there is no one besides Me. I am the Lord, and there is no other,

Immanent
What is meant by the immanence of God? The immanence of God means that he is knowable, perceivable or graspable. For example, Jesus Christ is God incarnate (in the flesh) and therefore he was immanent in the first century among those who knew him, perceived of him or experienced him with one or more of their five senses
GOD WANT US TO KNOW HIM
John 17:3 (NASB95)
3 “This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.
when Jesus was going to the cross he had you on his mind. “It was for the joy set before Him that he endured the cross”
GOD CREATED US TO WORSHIP, TO KNOW HIM, AND TO SERVE HIM
God instructs Pharaoh repeatedly to “Let His people go, to worship and serve Him”
We all worship something. worship means to show a lot of love, and adoration for something or someone.
If you do not worship the one true God, you will fashion yourself an idol to worship. Idolatry is anything come between you and the one true God.
An idol is when something or someone becomes more important to us than God. for example:
Identity, Money/ Material things, Career/ job status, Physical appearance, Entertainment, Influence and Fame, and Technology. There is much more
By that definition even good things can become idols when we make them the ultimate things in our lives. Anything, or anyone, can become an idol if we place the value for that thing/person above our value for God.
The Egyptians forgot what God did for them through Joseph.
Its easy to forget what the Lord has done!
They misplaced their trust in God, and created gods of there own making.
1. Hapi, god of the Nile River
2. Frogs Heket, goddess of fertility, has frog head
3. Gnats or lice Geb & Akhor, gods of the earth
4. Flies Khepri, god of creation, has fly's head
5. Death of livestock Hathor, the mother cow goddess
6. Boils Isis, goddess of medicine
7. Hail Nut, goddess of the sky
8. Locusts Seth, god of vegetation
9. Darkness Ra, god of the sun
10. Death of the firstborn Pharoah himself, held to be a god
GOD DISPLAYS HIS POWER OVER ALL THE FALSE GODS
10 PLAGUES
DO NOT HARDEN YOUR HEART
WHAT DOES IS MEAN TO HARDEN YOUR HEART?
It means to see clear evidence of the hand of God at work and still refuse to accept His Word and submit to His will.
It means to resist Him by showing ingratitude and disobedience and not having any fear of the Lord or of His judgments.
Hardhearted people say with Pharaoh, “Who is the Lord that I should obey His voice?” (5:2)
But the narrative also makes it clear that by sending these various judgments, God was hardening Pharaoh’s heart (4:21; 7:3; 9:12; 10:1, 20, 27; 11:10; 14:4, 8, 17).
God used Pharaoh to display His sovereignty.
Does this mean that God was unfair?
that Pharaoh shouldn’t be held responsible for what he did?
No, for the same sun that melts the ice also hardens the clay. It all depends on the nature of the material.
A Callous Heart - a Warning to obey.
Callous ; Thickening of the skin, from repeatedly friction,
having a seared conscience, as with a hot iron.
1 Timothy 4:1–5 (NASB95)
But the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons, by means of the hypocrisy of liars seared in their own conscience as with a branding iron,
Today is the day of Salvation
Conclusion:
We need to stand on God’s promises. we need to continue in the faith.
We fight with prayer, we stand in faith, I consider the cost, and I stand at the foot of the cross.
I’M GOING TO BELIEVE IN GOD - I’M WILL TRUST IN HIM ALONE, NO OTHER GOD.
WHEN I STAND- I’M GOING TO WORSHIP
WHEN I STAND - I’M GOING TO SERVE HIM
I’M GOING TO BE WITNESS OF CHRIST AND SHARE THE GOOD NEWS OF THE GOSPEL.
PRAYER:
GOD YOU’RE LIKE A STORM ON A DESERT PLAIN, LIKE A RIVER THAT'S DRIED UP, AND NO ONE IS CALLING FOR RAIN, I’M GOING TO STAND, WITH MY ARM HELD UP HIGH, AS IF YOU WATER HITS MY FACE. GOD YOUR THE STORM ON THIS DESERT PLAIN.
LORD I KNOW YOU ALWAYS COME THROUGH, YOU HAVE’NT FORSAKEN ME, YOU ARE WORKING ALL THINGS FOR MY GOOD, EVEN WHEN I CANNOT SEE.
EVERYDAY I WAKE UP TO THE PROMISE THAT HOPE IS ALIVE, BECAUSE YOU GIVE ME ALL I NEED TO KNOW THAT EVERYTHING'S GOING TO BE ALRIGHT. GOD, YOU’RE WORKING ALL THINGS FOR MY GOOD.
I CANT WAIT JUST TO SEE WHAT YOU’RE GONNA DO, GOD, I KNOW YOU ARE THE KING OF THE BREAKTHROUGH. IN EVERY TRIAL, EVERY FIRE I CAN TRUST YOU- YOU ALONE ARE THE HOPE AND THE PROMISE THAT I CLING TOO.
