Crystal

When I was 6 we moved to Florida, so I didn't get to spend as much time with grandma as I wanted to, but I have so many found memories of her. I remember sitting in her lap and reading books together. Endless hours of sitting at the dinner table and playing games, lots and lots of hours. Getting excited because when they came to Florida for a visit I never had to do the dishes, she always did them.  Funny the things like that you remember.  She had the heart to serve.  Her whole life she served others.  I don't think I ever saw her be selfish.  She even ironed Grandpa's jeans!  Most of all I remember her desire for me to follow Jesus. Every birthday and Christmas card she said she was praying for me. Everytime we talked on the phone she said she was praying for me. The last time I saw her one of the first questions she asked was if I was going to church. I always knew how much she loved me because her concern for my spiritual life was always front and center. I will ever be grateful for the time I got to spend with her.  I thank God that he allowed me to have such a loving Grandma.  I will miss her, but I WILL see her again.

Message
As you just heard my grandmothers faith was at the center of her life. Because of the relationship she formed with the Lord many years ago. We have peace knowing that she is in perfect peace. We can even have joy knowing that she is know enjoying all the riches of heaven and the presence of her Savior Jesus Christ.
The scriptures also tell us that each one of us can also have the same assurance when we pass on to eternity. But these precious promises of peace and Joy are only provided for those have trusted in Jesus Christ as savior and Lord.
The Scriptures tell us in
Hebrews 9:27 (CSB)
27 And just as it is appointed for people to die once—and after this, judgment—
Jesus described for us exactly what this judgement would look like for both the believing and unbelieving.
Matthew 25:32–34 KJV 1900
32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats: 33 And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left. 34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
Matthew 25:41 KJV 1900
41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:
For those who have repented and turned to Christ death results in great a celebration of joy as we inherit the Kingdom of God.
But those who have refused to turn or repent will be eternally judged for their sins without hope of escape.
So then why at funeral would I talk about such things?
Because My grandmother would want me to tell you this truth. She would want the testimony of God’s grace in her life to be shared even in her death.
She would want you to know that God’s desire is not to just to judge you but rather redeem you from your sin and death. His desire is not to punish you but to give you grace through the free gift of salvation through his son.
You see man chose to rebel against God. So sin is our problem, man’s problem. So by a man it had to be paid for. Christ Became man to take our place and took our punishment on the cross. Then three days later he rose again defeating sin and death. All those who will turn to him in faith and repentance can leave this life to enter into an even better one. Eternity in heaven with our savior Jesus Christ.
Benediction
john 3:16 “16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

“This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life. God didn’t go to all the trouble of sending his Son merely to point an accusing finger, telling the world how bad it was. He came to help, to put the world right again. Anyone who trusts in him is acquitted; anyone who refuses to trust him has long since been under the death sentence without knowing it. And why? Because of that person’s failure to believe in the one-of-a-kind Son of God when introduced to him.

19–21  “This is the crisis we’re in: God-light streamed into the world, but men and women everywhere ran for the darkness. They went for the darkness because they were not really interested in pleasing God. Everyone who makes a practice of doing evil, addicted to denial and illusion, hates God-light and won’t come near it, fearing a painful exposure. But anyone working and living in truth and reality welcomes God-light so the work can be seen for the God-work it is.”
