Foundations of being the church.
Jesus walked out and lived these anointed lanes of heaven.
We too can walk in His footsteps under the same anointing that Jesus does.
There are lanes in our lives that we are anointed walk in and other lanes we are not anointing to walk in.
These lanes are a shadows cast by Jesus who was and is demonstrating them with His life.
Anointed Lanes:
good news to the afflicted.
“To bring good news to the afflicted,”
Afflicted synonyms: afflicted, poor, humble, meek.
Afflicted: a person who has been a victim of some pain, injury, or harm, either physically or mentally; often associated with recurring treatment or events.
sense: to announce or convey a message of positive information about recent or important events.
Humble: they had something happen in their life that humiliated them.
A knowing that you can not get out of this on your own.
Poor meaning you know you need more then you have.
God is rewarding humility again.
He does this all throughout Proverbs and the new testament.
Example:
Ever seen someone make a mistake and they know it, but the people around them jump on them and tell how bad that mistake was.
Its like those other people are happy to confirm how bad that other person messed up.
This never produces any kind of good fruit in either of their lives.
This is speaking bad new to the poor.
There is also a speaking good news to the proud.
You are anointed for conveying a positive message to the ones who know they need God.
Jesus said blessed are the poor in spirit, for they shall inherit the Kingdom of God.
(Matt 5:3)
Example:
We had this employee, we will call her Anne.
Anne had done something that was fireable at the preschool.
She did something that put a child in harms way and could have resulted in the center being shut down if that happened.
We found out what she had done from another employee.
There were several things going on here that was making it a very easy decision to fire Anne.
When Anne came in she was nervous.
We asked her if she had anything to tell us, and she did not offer anything willingly.
We told her what we know happened and she immediately admitted it.
No children were harmed and no employees were harmed in any way.
We asked her what the real problem was and she could not come up with anything other than the fact that she made a mistake.
We asked her what made her make that mistake?
She did not know but we could tell she wanted to know that answer.
We told her to step out so we can decide what we were going to do.
We prayed about what to do and we heard God to empower her to clean up her mess and to give her another chance.
While we were doing this Anne had already gone to her classroom and another next to hers and told them exactly what she had done and apologized for putting their jobs at risk.
We invited her back and told her our decision and she immediately burst out in tears.
Before that moment she had already told us how she could not believe that we were even talking to her after all that had happened.
We saw a real humility and a willingness to do the hard work of cleaning up her mess.
We told her the good new and what we see in her.
We piled on the truth of who she really is and what we believe she can overcome in her life.
She had to go tell every staff member that she had risked their jobs and she was going to earn their trust back.
We are anointed to preach good news to the humble.
This exactly what Jesus does to us.
Jesus himself is apposed to the proud but gives Grace to the humble.
Activation:
Is there anyone in your life that has been afflicted or humbled that you are to bring good news to?
Write their name down:
Holy Spirit, what do you want to tell him or her?
Anointed Lanes:
good news to the afflicted.
bind up the brokenhearted.
“He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,”
The sense behind this verse is to bind up and encourage, or to inspire with confidence, give hope to or courage to.
If you bind something then it can heal.
Be a safe space for someone who is brokenhearted.
Example what not to do:
I have had people come to me and open up about how broken they are, in response i have tried to give advice on how to stop this from happening in the future.
This does not work so well.
If anything it just pokes the wounds of their heart.
Why does this not work well, because I am not anointed to poke the wounds of the brokenhearted.
You are anointed to encourage, inspire with confidence and give hope to the brokenhearted.
Example:
Sometimes God will send someone to you is going through what you went through already.
Just being with them and listening to them begins to bind the wounds.
Even sharing how you have found hope after that brokenness.
Encouraging them that it is ok to feel what they do and God will visit that place in their heart.
Activation:
Is there anyone in your life that is brokenhearted that needs you to help heal?
Write their name down:
Holy Spirit, what do you want to tell him or her?
Anointed Lanes:
good news to the afflicted.
bind up the brokenhearted.
proclaim liberty to the captive.
“To proclaim liberty to captives”
Captive is someone who was put in captivity unjustly.
Proclaim liberty
Proclaim: to call out, to read aloud, to commission, to be summoned, to be named...
Liberty: Pure, flowing,
- from a root word meaning: to move rapidly
- To be named rabidly.
Shout quickly with authority.
liberty = release
captive = confined against their will
Captive is someone being confined against their will or doing.
They are not doing something to cause this to happen but it keeps happening.
Let’s apply this to our identity:
If you have been told you are not worthy by life of people, and you tend to believe that.
You are captive to a lie.
Of you don’t know the lie you may wrestle with, when you are not acting like your true self,
“What is the story you are telling yourself?”
That story is the lie.
Eve and being told she could be more.
Shame says something is wrong with me.
