Protecting The Dream
Protecting The Dream
DREAMS REQUIRE A HEALTHY ENVIRONMENT.
DREAMS REQUIRE A HEALTHY ENVIRONMENT.
Today, we’re going to look at how to steward and nurture a dream.
Today, we’re going to look at how to steward and nurture a dream.
When your dream is fulfilled, the journey isn't over; in fact, it's just beginning
once your promise is born the environment you keep it in will be vital to the health of its development.
Part of stewardship is protecting. you need to learn to protect your dream
Just like a new born baby
the environment you create around your fulfillment dream is vital.
so what does this mean practically? what you listen to daily, read hang around, or consume needs to be healthy. or else you kill your dream
17 For if I do this willingly, I have a reward; but if against my will, I have been entrusted with a stewardship.
Example: let's say you've just had a promise fulfilled of getting your dream job. the best thing you can do is to get a life coach or someone who can help you adjust, read books on the position, and try to connect with those who have done the job before. sitting back and thinking, “ I've got this… now I can go on autopilot,” will jeopardize your full promise.
Example: you married the love of your life, your dream is fulfilled. but you have to Stewart it, take care of it, nurture it, build a healthy environment. Go on date nights, buy some new PJs
Dreams have seasons
Dreams have seasons
You won't be in the season forever. you will gradually be able to relax, confidentially aware of your surroundings. eventually you'll be able to live out this promise no matter if
'For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven. A time to be born and a time to die. A time to plant and a time to harvest. A time to kill and a time to heal. A time to tear down and a time to build up. ' Ecclesiastes 3:1-3
1 There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens:
2 a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot,
3 a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build,
It's like summer, spring, Fall and winter.
In the winter the farmer is planning;
in the spring the farmer is planting;
in the summer the farmer is growing crops;
and in the fall the farmer is harvesting.
Ask God what season are you in ?
GOD WILL PUT YOU IN A COMMUNITY OF DREAMERS.
GOD WILL PUT YOU IN A COMMUNITY OF DREAMERS.
If you want to chase your dreams, you have to surround yourself with dream-chasers!
how the people you surround yourself with can add to that environment and urge you onward as you go after your dreams.
We need each other
we need a sense of belonging.
at kickoff we talked a little bit about that how we need each other to grow spiritually, and socially, fellowship, communion
the Bible is very clear that the family is God's idea, and he wants everyone to be in a family weather they are your birth family or not. you have a faith family.
God's original design was to have a man and a woman come together to make a child.
He wanted every child to be born with a father and a mother and a family unit.
but not all of our stories fall into that perfect plan, and God knew this, so he had a plan in place.
God made way for you to get what you need, even if even if you don't have all the elements of a perfect family.
he designed you to need spiritual father, mother, sisters and brothers: a spiritual family.
God wants you to have a beautiful community, and he wants to help you build it. he is very invested in this though. he wants us to help bear each other's burdens
Galatians 6:2 'Share each other’s burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ. '
2 Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.
Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 ' Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble. Likewise, two people lying close together can keep each other warm. But how can one be warm alone? A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken. '
9 Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor:
10 If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up.
11 Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone?
12 Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.
In fact he promised that when two of us get together in his name he will be there Matthew 18:20
20 For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.”
In the Old Testament the Jewish people lived in tribes.
God placed them in tribes intentionally to have a community.
the best way for you to grow is to be in environments with other people who are growing.
you need people around you with the same values and core beliefs.
you need friends who are going in the same direction you're going.
you need people who want to raise their family as you do. it's important!
it helps you when you don't feel like doing hard things.
they encourage you and help you stay on the right course, reminding you who you are and who you want to be.
'Hebrews 10:24-25 'Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.
24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds,
25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
Don't forsake coming together. don't forsake getting together.
hanging out and having community.
this is where you encourage each other.
this is where you grow.
this is where you build a life together!
