INTRODUCTION:

The Beginning of Knowledge

1 The proverbs of Solomon, son of David, king of Israel:

2  To know wisdom and instruction,

to understand words of insight,

3  to receive instruction in wise dealing,

in righteousness, justice, and equity;

4  to give prudence to the simple,

knowledge and discretion to the youth—

5  Let the wise hear and increase in learning,

and the one who understands obtain guidance,

6  to understand a proverb and a saying,

the words of the wise and their riddles.

7  The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge;

fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Attention Getter

Wisdom is the solution to 90% of all of our problems

Wisdom is… Knowing Yourself

Two main questions we must address in life. 1. Who am I? 2. What am I supposed to do?

Story about Jamie

Jamie couldn’t figure out that [Name] wasn’t who he was supposed to be with, and lacked the self awareness to realize this was very strange behavior.
Poor judgement isn’t a sin, but it can lead you to sin.

Every HS and College Age Person is constantly trying to figure these things out

Knowing who you are is mostly learned by finding out who you aren’t

Wisdom is… Knowing the times and seasons

Right Word + Right Action + Wrong Time = Disaster

Talking to a parent or a friend about a problem and they try to fix it right then and there.

Principle Applied

Wisdom is… Understanding that Life is Complicated

Most of the problems that we face in life aren’t a Black and White yes or no.

Religious People: Try to Fix Problems with Moral Laws

Over spiritualizing decisions that aren’t moral decisions.
There is also a tendency in Christians that want to simplify complicated realities by blaming problems that they create on the sovereignty of God. (Most Annoying)

Worldly People: Try to Fix Problems with Facts

Ben Shapiro- Facts don’t care about your feelings.
The irony is that we use facts to fix our uneasiness.

God Is… Wisdom

CONCLUSION: God is Wisdom, so God knows us, God’s timing is perfect and he understands how to navigate our lives that have been complicated by a fallen world.
