Mark 5:25–34 KJV (WS)
And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years, And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse, When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment. For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole. And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague. And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes? And his disciples said unto him, Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me? And he looked round about to see her that had done this thing. But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth. And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.
GET OUT OF THE WAY
Introduction:
According to the law , excessive blood flow made a woman ceremonially unclean.
What do this mean in the eyes of the Jews?
1. Any furniture she touched was unclean as well.
2. If other people touched anything that she had touched, they would be unclean as well.
3. This woman was very alone.
4. No one would have wanted to be around her.
5. She couldn’t go out in public.
6. She couldn’t be hugged by her family.
Twelve years is a long time to be quarantined from all people!
Not only was she considered unclean, but she probably felt it as well.
Having to deal with the logistics of trying to have clean clothes and linens for twelve years.
(She) had tried to get well.
She had gone to many doctors over the years.
She spent everything she had trying to be cured.
The ceremonial law and legend of the Talmud gave at least eleven possible cures for her ailment.
I’m sure that this poor woman had tried all of them.
But, nothing worked and she even got worse!
She was tired, worn out, and growing more and more lonely by the day.
But she was also desperate.
which can be a very good thing.
Desperation keeps complacency (a feeling of quiet pleasure or security) and self-pity (self-absorbed unhappiness) away.
Desperation - a great need that can make you act irrationally (not governed by or according to reason).
IT’S TIME TO GET DESPERATE
The key to getting to Jesus and receiving the thing you need and desire can be found in the story of the woman with the issue of blood.
We all have issues tonight that might not necessary be a issue of blood.
There are many issues that have separated us from the fellowship of God.
Every Issue Of Life Has Obstacle
Her was sickness.
Yours may be fear.
Your may be sin.
We Must Press On
Philippians 3:14 KJV (WS)
I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
When she heard...
Mark 5:27 KJV (WS)
When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment.
2. She layed aside negative thoughts, doubts, and fear.
Hebrews 12:1 KJV (WS)
Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
Get Out Of The Way!
This woman had a made up mind.
Mark 5:28 KJV (WS)
For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole.
Determination - firmness of purpose; resoluteness: the process of establishing something exactly by calculation or research:
Mark 5:29 KJV (WS)
And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague.
Straightway - RIGHT AWAY, IMMEDIATELY
Mark 5:34 KJV (WS)
And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.
