Passage: Eph 4:8-10
Therefore it says,
“When he ascended on high he led a host of captives,
and he gave gifts to men.”
(In saying, “He ascended,” what does it mean but that he had also descended into the lower regions, the earth? He who descended is the one who also ascended far above all the heavens, that he might fill all things.)
One reason He came was to give gifts - to help people become all God created them to be. To help them live with purpose. (Living on mission helps equip others. It’s one purpose of spiritual gifts. The gifts are not for you to personally benefit from… they are to serve others. How do you equip others? How are others benefiting from you?)
He sacrificially came. Descending cost something. (What are we willing to sacrifice for the mission? JD Greer - don’t short change people on what it will cost. When Jesus said deny yourself, pick up your cross, and follow HIm… he was serious. Growing in Christ will cost something. But the reward will far exceed the cost!)
He lead others to do the same. (What kind of life are we modeling? Discipling?)
He received glory (By our sacrificial missional living, Jesus receives glory)
