Intro:
A. Immigrant farmworkers make up an estimated 73% of agriculture workers in the United States.
B. Americans tend to think that they are above farm work.
C. However as Christians we are called to be laborers. (John 4:35)
Body:
I. Evangelism is based in work
A. The farmer’s work is almost year-round, but the work of an evangelist is all the time. (2 Timothy 4:2)
B. If we procrastinate the work who will do it? (Matthew 28:18-20)
C. Jesus makes it clear that we are to go out and teach others about him. (Ecclesiastes 9:10)
II. Evangelism is based in truth
A. The farmer works on his knowledge of agriculture, and so should we. (Luke 8:11)
B. The word of God is not only the seed but the truth. (John 17:17)
C. If we do not operate on truth, then our work will be fruitless. (1 Cor. 15:14; Gal. 2:2, 4:11; Phil. 2:16) 1 Timothy 4:16)
III. Evangelism is based in love
A. A farmer does not do his job because he loves the people who but his produce nor does he love the food he grows, but that should be our driving factor. (Matthew 22:36-40)
B. Our love for our God commands that we obey and do the work he has set before us.
C. Our love for our fellow man is why we need to teach others.
