False religion is being religious to impress people.

Luke 20:45-47 “45 Then in the audience of all the people he said unto his disciples, 46 Beware of the scribes, which desire to walk in long robes, and love greetings in the markets, and the highest seats in the synagogues, and the chief rooms at feasts; 47 Which devour widows’ houses, and for a shew make long prayers: the same shall receive greater damnation.”
Jesus gives a strong warning to His disciples.
Jesus confronts the hypocrisy of His day. Longer version in Matthew.
Not only did Jesus give a strong warning but God’s Word instructs me to follow in His example. Titus 1:9 “9 Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.

Three attributes of empty religion shared with us.

Actions are motivated by the desires of the flesh.

Luke 20:46 “46 Beware of the scribes, which desire to walk in long robes, and love greetings in the markets, and the highest seats in the synagogues, and the chief rooms at feasts;”

Worship is self-centered and not directed towards God.

Receives a greater condemnation.
