Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk. And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath. The Jews therefore said unto him that was cured, It is the sabbath day: it is not lawful for thee to carry thy bed. He answered them, He that made me whole, the same said unto me, Take up thy bed, and walk. Then asked they him, What man is that which said unto thee, Take up thy bed, and walk? And he that was healed wist not who it was: for Jesus had conveyed himself away, a multitude being in that place. Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee. The man departed, and told the Jews that it was Jesus, which had made him whole. And therefore did the Jews persecute Jesus, and sought to slay him, because he had done these things on the sabbath day.

After this there was a feast of the Jews; and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches.
[sheep market] Sheep gate - not market, which is in italics, meaning there is nothing in the Greek for this word.
At the time, there were two main types of gates in Jerusalem.
The first was called the Beautiful Gate and it was used by wealthy people and those of high status.
The second was called the Sheep Gate and it was used by, you guessed it, sheep!
Jesus tells the people that He is the gate for the sheep.
He says that those who have gone before Him are thieves and robbers, but the sheep have not listened to them.
Jesus goes on to say that anyone who enters through His gate will be protected and will find pasture.
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out. And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice. And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers. This parable spake Jesus unto them: but they understood not what things they were which he spake unto them.
Jesus is the door for all sheep.
There was no mistake of which gate Jesus came through.
This world lay by the pool of Bethesda, spiritually sick and diseased.
Bethesda - house of mercy, a public infirmary.
The Gate called beautiful.
Better known as the Broadway, many their be that go there in at.
In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water.
Impotent - weak, sickly, and helpless.
When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had. And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years.
A angel trouble the water. (agitated, cause commotion, or disturb).
38 years of suffering.
Jesus ask a question which He is asking you today.
When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole?
Wilt thou be made whole?
The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me.
