AUTHOR
The Holy Spirit of God through inspiration (2 Timothy 3:15-16) by Amos (Amos 1:1)
DATE WRITTEN 8th Cent. b.c.
There were only about thirty or forty years between the ministries of Elisha and Amos, but in that short span of time the whole world changed. A new superpower, Assyria, stalked onto the international stage. Rapacious, strong, and cruel, Assyria was as different from Egypt as night is from day. (John Phillips Exploring the Minor Prophets)
Then answered Amos, and said to Amaziah, I was no prophet, neither was I a prophet’s son; but I was an herdman, and a gatherer of sycomore fruit:
Not a professional religious worker
Not a momma called-daddy sent preacher
Not a preacher’s kid taking over the family business
Outline
I. The Vigilance Of The Prophet. chs.1-2
II. The Voice Of The Prophet. chs.3-6
III. The Vision Of The Prophet. chs.7-8
IV. The Vindication Of The Prophet. ch.9
A National Geographic News survey in 2006 reported that many young Americans are geographically illiterate.
According to the survey, 63 percent of Americans aged 18-24 failed to correctly locate Iraq on a map of the Middle East. The results for US geography are even more dismal.
50% could not find New York State on the map.
33% could not find Louisiana.
48% could not locate the state of Mississippi.
Understanding geography is helpful in daily life, but “God-ography” (finding God) is infinitely more crucial--for now and for eternity.[1]
Famous slogan on church signs: “What’s missing in ch_ _ ch? UR - come join us Sunday”

6 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:
7 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.
8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
9 As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

Conclusion:
