Roots of Revival

Joel 2:12-13.
One of the few left…a post exile prophet living in what’s left of Jerusalem.
Not only that but he talks of a great swarm of locusts destroying everything in its path.
food sources totally destroyed.
“who can endure it?” Then, our passage.
Focus on penitence and self-examination, yes. repentance, yes BUT also focus on:
Ends with promises - echoes promises of deuteronomy, if you keep my commands, etc. Repent, penitence.
Focus on promises of God - merciful, etc.
“the threshing floors will be full of grain, the vats will overflow with new wine and fresh oil. I will repay you for the years that the cutting locust, the swarming locust, the hopping locust, and the devouring locust have eaten…you will eat abundantly and be satisfied…I will pour out my spirit upon everyone, your sons and daughters will prophesy...”
Asbury Revival
“they’ve been praying for change.”
“it was surreal, the peace that was in the room”
“physical healings, healings from hurts, cancer gone.” She’s seen people that she knows really dislike each other praying together, singing together.
“So much joy”
Jesus is the root of revival!
