Romans 6:9-10

We know that Christ, being raised from the dead, will never die again; death no longer has dominion over him. 10 For the death he died he died to sin, once for all, but the life he lives he lives to God

It is Because of His death and Resurection we have hope of eternal life with Him.

Romans 6:4

4 We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.

New creation

2 Cor 5:17

17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come

We still struggle with sin

Rom 7:15

For I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate.

for that reason we need to come to the table clean.

Paul Tells why we come to the table in 1 Cor 11:23

23 For I received from the Lord what I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took bread, 24 and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, “This is my body, which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” 25 In the same way also he took the cup, after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.” 26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.

But then he tells us HOW we should come to the table:

1 Cor 11:27

27 Whoever, therefore, eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty concerning the body and blood of the Lord. 28 Let a person examine himself, then, and so eat of the bread and drink of the cup. 29 For anyone who eats and drinks without discerning the body eats and drinks judgment on himself
