Message: The proper response to the truth about Jesus is a heart that repents of sins and believes in Him.

Question: What’s the cause of unbelief?

1. Unbelief comes from a heart that cherishes in sin.

A. The Israelites had no problem of lack of evidence about the deity of Christ.
B. The Israelites had a problem of perception of the truth because of their sinfulness.
Point: A person who cherishes in the darkness of sin will never see the beauty of the light in Christ.
The temporal pleasure in sin leads to eternal agony in darkness.
The temporal pleasure in sin leads to eternal absence of true joy in Christ.
What should be your response to this truth?

Challenge: Repent and abandon the sins your heart cherishes.

2. Unbelief comes from a heart that clings to pretense of truth.

A. The Israelites believed the things they do were really the truth.
B. A heart that doesn’t resist the truth, but believes it is a heart that walks in the light and not in darkness.
Point: A person who never examines the authenticity of his beliefs will never know whether he is in darkness or in the light.
Jesus delivers people from the darkness of sin and its penalty.
Jesus gives people new eyes, a new heart, and a new life.

Challenge: Believe the truth that Jesus is your Savior.
