John 6:1-3 (ESV)
6 After this Jesus went away to the other side of the Sea of Galilee, which is the Sea of Tiberias. 2 And a large crowd was following him, because they saw the signs that he was doing on the sick. 3 Jesus went up on the mountain, and there he sat down with his disciples.
Jesus was just rejected by the religious leaders…also it is most likely that this is right after John the Baptist is beheaded…
Jesus and the disciples where trying to get away to get a little rest .. these needy people kept following them…
Signs on the sick
Some needed help
Some just wanted to see the Miracle
The where more interested in the outcome than the source

John 6:5-7 (ESV)
5 Lifting up his eyes, then, and seeing that a large crowd was coming toward him, Jesus
said to Philip, “Where are we to buy bread, so that these people may eat?” 6 He said this to test him, for he himself knew what he would do. 7 Philip answered him, “Two hundred denarii worth of bread would not be enough for each of them to get a little.”
Jesus wanted to ge to know Philip a little better..

Mark 6:35-36 the disciple’s solution was simply to send the people away. This would get rid of the problem but it wouldn’t be in their best interests.
This was a test… not to get Philip in trouble or tempt Philip to do the wrong thing or even to look silly.. it was more of a test to see if man could solve this problem.

What is your faith in?
2 Corinthians 13:5 (ESV)
5 Examine yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Or do you not realize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you fail to meet the test!

“The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field. 32 Though it is the smallest of all seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds come and perch in its branches.”
Evidence of Compassion
Jesus feeding 5000 Video 1:36-3:12
John 6:10-11 (ESV)
Jesus said, “Have the people sit down.” Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, about five thousand in number. 11 Jesus then took the loaves, and when he had given thanks, he distributed them to those who were seated. So also the fish, as much as they wanted.
Matthew 14. 5000 men not including women an children
8 months of salary in those days = two hundred denari
Jesus was full of compassion..
Mt 14:13–14 (ESV)
13 Now when Jesus heard this, he withdrew from there in a boat to a desolate place by himself. But when the crowds heard it, they followed him on foot from the towns. 14 When he went ashore he saw a great crowd, and he had compassion on them and healed their sick.
Jesus is bigger than any problem we face
1 John 4:4 (ESV)
4 Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.
Gave thanks to his father because he saw God as the source of all that is good.
John 5:36 (ESV)
36 But the testimony that I have is greater than that of John. For the works that the Father has given me to accomplish, the very works that I am doing, bear witness about me that the Father has sent me.
James 1:17 (ESV)
17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.
The disciples wanted to solve this problem by sending the multitude away to buy their own bread. They were more focused on their own need for a break than they were with the multitude’s need for food. They viewed the hungry multitude as a bother. But Christ was concerned for them. He wants us to learn to look at needy people through His eyes. He has compassion for them and delights to meet their needs.
John 5:36 (ESV)
36 But the testimony that I have is greater than that of John. For the works that the Father has given me to accomplish, the very works that I am doing, bear witness about me that the Father has sent me.
Evidence of Abundance

12 And when they had eaten their fill, he told his disciples, “Gather up the leftover fragments, that nothing may be lost.” 13 So they gathered them up and filled twelve baskets with fragments from the five barley loaves left by those who had eaten.
Moses in numbers 11:3
From little to abundance
They where full… ate beyond their capacity
Jeremiah 32:17 (ESV)
17 ‘Ah, Lord God! It is you who have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and by your outstretched arm! Nothing is too hard for you.

Evidence of the Christ
Jesus feeding 5000 Video 3:33-4:00
John 6:14-16(ESV)
14 When the people saw the sign that he had done, they said, “This is indeed the Prophet who is to come into the world!”
15 Perceiving then that they were about to come and take him by force to make him king, Jesus withdrew again to the mountain by himself.

25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, 26 and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?”
If Jesus is dead, then Christianity is dead. If Jesus is alive, then Christianity is alive

All a - round you and within you
He is with you, He is with you
In the morning, in the evening
In Your coming and your going
In your weeping and rejoicing
He is for you, He is for you
