Objective:

To have students understand that the same God that reveals himself and the Old testament; is the same God throughout the new Testament. In addition, he will be the same God throughout eternity, because God does change..
Diagnosis: We live in a time were so many people have so many beliefs. It can be hard to understand or even know what to believe in. Children who grew-up in church in most cases walk away when they become teens or adults. There can be many reasons for this, and in most cases you tend to find out it is sin. It usually boils down to that individual making a decision that the want some aspect of the world more than the want God. The try hard to juggle God and the World only to find that this can’t be done ( James 4:4 ) (You adulterous people! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.) However, sin is not always the case for some who leave the gospel of faith that they grew to know. Some people walk away due to a lack of knowledge. The are lead astray by other gospels, religions, faiths, and false ideologies about God that alters one system of believe.

Overview:

Our main focus is will be ideology. Ideology in many ways is mostly connected to politics. The idea of ideology is a manner or the content of thinking characteristic of an individual, group, or culture. In addition, it addresses a systematic body of concepts especially about human live or culture. The question tonight, that one must ask. Is what is my idea of God? Is God the same God from the beginning of time up until now and going forward.

Common Doubt Used

The most common doubt that throw most Christians off base, is how could God?
How Could God Allow my Family member to die?
How Could God Allow me or another to suffer?
How Could God Allow Evil?
How Could God in the Old Testament tell Israel to kill individuals, if murder is a sin..... What Kind of God Do we serve....
Our highlighted question is the one most used to make God look inconsistent, no sameness with the Son, high grace with no desire for obedience, and no regard for the whole authority of scripture.
If a person doesn’t see the whole bible as having authority then that person is highly acceptable to becoming double-minded in his thinking ( James 1:7-8)( For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.)
This thinking is dangerous and it can leave a person to think that our God has an Alter-Ego...
So Your Goal this evening is to be a Jury. The Crime committed, was by the blaspheme bandits. There Crimes are listed below.
Murder
Molestation
Child Sacrifice
Kidnapped women and children
Arson
Fleeing Authorities
Torture
Selling Drugs and Using Drugs
Your Job is to declare should these individuals be put to death
by lethal injection. If yes why? and if no why...
Once we found out who the culprits were did that change you decision of them.....
Understanding God means that we understand that his attributes work together perfectly. Although God is love, his love with never outweigh his __________ and righteousness....
____________
Based on what we just learned, how could God tell his people to go kill another group of people ?
Deuteronomy 7:1–2 ESV
“When the Lord your God brings you into the land that you are entering to take possession of it, and clears away many nations before you, the Hittites, the Girgashites, the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites, seven nations more numerous and mightier than you, and when the Lord your God gives them over to you, and you defeat them, then you must devote them to complete destruction. You shall make no covenant with them and show no mercy to them.
Is this statement correct from a God that is supposedly loving ?
Famous Atheist Richard Dawkins says that this verse in scripture proves that God Commanded ____________.
How do we defend against such a statement or thought.... Maybe this verses will help....
Proverbs 6:16–19 ESV
There are six things that the Lord hates, seven that are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers.
Genesis 6:5 ESV
The Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
Leviticus 18:21 ESV
You shall not give any of your children to offer them to Molech, and so profane the name of your God: I am the Lord.
As we can God Hates __________________
The Leviticus verse points to the Canaanites, in which they believed and child sacrifice.
The Canaanites were clearly ______________
God Hates sin and the moment that we sin because God is holy and set a part he could kill us instantly when we do sin. The Canaanites had a spirit in them that had to be destroyed. However since God is ______ to anger he allows grace and mercy by the abundance. Genesis 15:16
Genesis 15:16 ESV
And they shall come back here in the fourth generation, for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet complete.”
God doesn’t just rush to kill a person or people in most cases he is longsuffering.
Also remember not to get thrown off by annihilation language.. For example, if I make a shot to win the game and the crowd goes wild; I more than likely, when telling the story will say that everyone was on there feet after I made the shot. This isn’t false statement, however the statement is designed to express the seriousness of what just happened.
God said show no mercy and he did command them to destroy everything. However, this is the _______________ of the culture doing this time. Joshua did Conquer, but the main thing was Israel was to put an end to the Idolatry. For example, verses like Judges 2:21 allows us to see that all people weren’t killed, but Joshua 11:20 implies that all were destroyed. You will find out that God main agenda is to drove out the evil, in which the remaining people get on board with complete devotion to him. When you begin to read judges you find out that the Israelites still allowed these other nations to worship their gods....
Joshua 11:20 ESV
For it was the Lord’s doing to harden their hearts that they should come against Israel in battle, in order that they should be devoted to destruction and should receive no mercy but be destroyed, just as the Lord commanded Moses.
Judges 2:21 ESV
I will no longer drive out before them any of the nations that Joshua left when he died,

Old Verses New/Law verses Grace.

So is the God from the old testament the same as in the New? Better yet is God still the same God now....
The answer is yes. We have a tendency to focus on only the negative. We don’t see the same consequences in the Old testament as we do in the new, or maybe we have been made to believe that we don’t.
God blessed people in the Old testament. He clearly wanted to ______ all nations, think about the story of Jonah. Jesus is God, however that fact gets lost in the New Testament. Bad teaching distorts the view of who Christ is. We think of a sweet baby that grows up to be this nice gentle guy and we ignore verses like this Matthew 10:34-37 or Luke 12:49-53 .
The Message: The Bible in Contemporary Language (Luke 12:49-53
I’ve come to start a fire on this earth—how I wish it were blazing right now! I’ve come to change everything, turn everything rightside up—how I long for it to be finished! Do you think I came to smooth things over and make everything nice? Not so. I’ve come to disrupt and confront! From now on, when you find five in a house, it will be—Three against two,and two against three;Father against son,and son against father;Mother against daughter, and daughter against mother;Mother-in-law against bride, and bride against mother-in-law.”
Matthew 10:34–37 ESV
“Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. And a person’s enemies will be those of his own household. Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.
Hebrews 13:8 ESV
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
This verse show that God is the same yesterday and will be throughout eternity. God still judged heavy in the New Testament, in the books of Acts chapter five verses 1-11 the Holy Spirit kills two believers. God allowed all the Apostles to die horrible deaths except one.
Come to think of it Humans sacrificed there children to immortal powerful beings (gods). To show how much God hates sin, the God of the universe sacrificed his Son to mortal men in hopes that they will follow him. There is no Alter Ego, God loves us and he hates evil simple.
