Witness of God’s glory/can I get a witness
Jesus is glorified by serving us
John 6:14-15 (ESV)
14 When the people saw the sign that he had done, they said, “This is indeed the Prophet who is to come into the world!” 15 Perceiving then that they were about to come and take him by force to make him king, Jesus withdrew again to the mountain by himself.
Do you see Jesus as your physical king?
Sometimes.. my kids are working on a project or doing something.. and they might break something and ask me to fix it…etc…
Fix this for me Jesus …just don’t tell me how to live my life
Jesus wants you to get to know Him and who he is?
Jesus wants us to walk like him
1 John 2:3-6  (ESV)
3 And by this we know that we have come to know him, if we keep his commandments. 4 Whoever says “I know him” but does not keep his commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him, 5 but whoever keeps his word, in him truly the love of God is perfected. By this we may know that we are in him:6 whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked.

1 John 5:13  (ESV)
13 I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life.
These things
first person singular pronoun
Johns writings of eternal life which center on obedience to God’s word and salvation in Christ love.
Dr. James Rosscup in a book entitled Abiding in Christ
Writes,
“Abiding involves a person’s relating himself to Christ the Vine, to His Person and His purpose; rejecting attitudes, words, actions, or interests which Christ’s Word reveals He cannot share; and receiving the quality-essence of Christ’s imparted life for authentic fulfillment.”
Matthew 20:28  (ESV)
28 even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
Jesus is glorified by training us
John 6:16-19 (ESV)
16 When evening came, his disciples went down to the lake, 17 where they got into a boat and set off across the lake for Capernaum. By now it was dark, and Jesus had not yet joined them. 18 A strong wind was blowing and the waters grew rough. 19 When they had rowed about three or four miles, they saw Jesus approaching the boat, walking on the water; and they were frightened.

9 And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.

Hebrews 12:11 (ESV)
11 For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.
John Wesley's Diary reads as follows:
Sunday morning, May 5, preached in St. Ann's, was asked not to come back anymore.
Sunday p.m., May 5, preached at St. John's, deacons said, "Get out and stay out."
Sunday a.m., May 12, preached at St. Jude's, can't go back there either.
Sunday p.m., May 12, preached at St. George's, kicked out again.
Sunday a.m., May 19, preached at St. somebody else's, deacons called special meeting and said I couldn't return.
Sunday p.m., May 19, preached on the street, kicked off the street.
Sunday a.m., May 26, preached in meadow, chased out of meadow as a bull was turned loose during the services.
Sunday a.m., June 2, preached out at the edge of town, kicked off the highway.
Sunday p.m., June 2, afternoon service, preached in a pasture, 10,000 people came to hear me.
Romans 8:29-30  (ESV)
29 For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. 30 And those whom he predestined he also called, and those whom he called he also justified, and those whom he justified he also glorified.
Jesus is glorified by our willingness
John 6:20-21 (ESV)
20 But he said to them, “It is I; don’t be afraid.”
21 Then they were willing to take him into the boat, and immediately the boat reached the shore where they were heading.

It is I. ego eimi. I AM. Yahweh

The disciples actually had a choice.  They could have let Jesus pass by them.  They could have kept this “ghost” out of their boat.
They chose to receive Him.
So often, we’ve seen several times in the gospel of John that one of the biggest issues that keep men from God is the “will”.
Man wants to be “self-willed”, and doesn’t like to think that he needs to give up control of his life to God.
What area in your life are you self willed are you not willing to give God control? Finances, health, .. drinking ..lust full thoughts.. worry about the world we are living in?
remember
Jesus challenged the man who had been sick a long time:
John 5:6  (ESV)
6 When Jesus saw him lying there and knew that he had already been there a long time, he said to him, “Do you want to be healed?”
Jesus challenged the Jews:
John 5:39-40  (ESV)
39 You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness about me, 40 yet you refuse to come to me that you may have life.
John opened the gospel with this truth:
John 1:11-12  (ESV)
11 He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him. 12 But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God,
Are you willing?
21 Then they were willing to take him into the boat, and immediately the boat reached the shore where they were heading.
3-4 miles out in a storm… the wind stopped and the second they let him on the boat ..they where at their destination…
Matthew 14:32-33  (ESV)
32 And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased. 33 And those in the boat worshiped him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.”
Our willingness leads to his Glory..worship
Jesus is glorified when we realize we are to follow him.
John 6:22-24 (Esv)
22 The next day the crowd that had stayed on the opposite shore of the lake realized that only one boat had been there, and that Jesus had not entered it with his disciples, but that they had gone away alone. 23 Then some boats from Tiberias landed near the place where the people had eaten the bread after the Lord had given thanks. 24 Once the crowd realized that neither Jesus nor his disciples were there, they got into the boats and went to Capernaum in search of Jesus.
Ephesians 1:12-14  (ESV)
12 so that we who were the first to hope in Christ might be to the praise of his glory. 13 In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, 14 who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory.
Are you a witness for glory?
Have you realized that you are with out Christ’s glory?
Are you searching for Jesus.
Are you willing to let Him train you?!
Perhaps today you will run to the Father!
