Three muskateers pic
The Trinity is the most unique aspect of Christian truth. Dr. Henry Morris calls it “undoubtedly the most distinctive doctrine of the Christian faith.” This doctrine sets Christianity apart from all other religions, faith systems, sects, and philosophies. The Trinity is at the heart of who God is, and the great doctrines of Christ and the atonement flow out of a right understanding of the Trinity. Christians are the only people in the world who believe there is one God who eternally exists in Three Persons. This makes Christians different from believers
EGG?
MODALISM: is the unorthodox belief that God is one person who has revealed himself in three forms or modes
TRINITARIAN: doctrine where God is one being eternally existing in three persons.
Perhaps you’re saying, “I can’t understand that!” Good. I can’t either, and I’m glad I can’t. The fact that it boggles our minds is evidence of its authenticity. If God were small enough to understand He would not be big enough to be worshipped.

John 14:1-3 (ESV)
14 “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. 2 In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.
How do you spell relief?
Jesus just had a hard interaction with Judas a hard interaction with peter..
Jesus is reminding his disciples that they are going to experience stress, hard times fearful moments..that he is physically leaving them.. when they do..
He is telling them to Trust God fully with the problems they are facing…
Believe in God believe also in me.
Preparing a place for you
Homeschool.. expectations.. vs reality

Isaiah 66:1 (ESV)
66 Thus says the Lord:
“Heaven is my throne,
and the earth is my footstool;
The word in Greek for "rooms" really means 'a place to live.' This word appears but twice in the New Testament, here and in Verse 23 of this same chapter. In that verse Jesus says, "If a man loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him."
Read rev 4 and 21…
Revelation 21:3-4 (ESV)
“Behold, the dwelling place[a] of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God 4 He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”
William Barclay on this passage said,
He goes first, to make it safe for those who follow. He blazed the way to heaven and to God that we might follow in his steps.

John 14:4-6 (ESV)
4 And you know the way to where I am going.” 5 Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?”6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

The way
John 10:7-9 English Standard Version (ESV)
7 So Jesus again said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. 8 All who came before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. 9 I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture.
If Jesus is the way He deserves our worship
The Truth
John 1:14,16-18 (ESV)
14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son[a] from the Father, full of grace and truth. 16 For from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace.[b] 17 For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
If Jesus is the truth he deserves our trust
The Life
John 10:10 (ESV)
10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.
No one comes the Father..noone experiences home with Jesus ..This is the way
If Jesus is life he deserves our Love
Home is where the Father is
John 14:7-11 (ESV)
7 If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him.”
8 Philip said to him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us.” 9 Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and you still do not know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10 Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on my own authority, but the Father who dwells in me does his works. 11 Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me, or else believe on account of the works themselves.
Amy and I have been married.. for 22 yrs.. flowers?
6 times jesus says that we are one
Verse 7a: “If you had known me, you would have known my Father also.” Verse 7b: “From now on you do know him and have seen him.” Verse 9a in response to Philip’s request to see the Father: “Jesus said to him, ‘Have I been with you so long, and you still do not know me, Philip?’” Verse 9b: “Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?” Verse 10a: “Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me?” Verse 11a: “I am in the Father and the Father is in me.”
Jesus address the issue here and its unbelief..
Paul address this here…romans 4:11-20,14:23, gal 3:22-26..
2 Corinthians 5:7 (ESV)
7 for we walk by faith, not by sight.
Schnackenburg categorizes this dual “in-ness” of Jesus and the Father as a “reciprocal formula of immanence.” This close interdependent assertion is an affirmation of a close unity between the Father and the Son without assuming that the unity implies absolute identity
WHAT ARE YOUR BLINDSPOTS? Trust Jesus to open your eyes.. Jesus heals the blind man
John 9:7 (ESV)
7 and said to him, “Go, wash in the pool of Siloam” (which means Sent). So he went and washed and came back seeing.
Inviting others home
John 14:12-14
12 “Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father. 13 Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it.
Again Jesus pushes on belief in Him
Will do greater things.. this is what we will see next week.. the HOLY SPIRIT
Its like a great artist whose work is only recognized after he is dead..
Except Christ work is recognized through his resurrection and the sending of the holy spirit..
Prayer to the Father in Jesus name
When we pray this way it aligns us with Gods will and that is when we see God answering it.
1 John 5:14-15 (ESV)
14 And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. 15 And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him.
[Kostenberger, 139].
“involve magical incantations but rather expresses alignment of one’s desires and purposes with God”
We pray to align ourselves with God’s glory
So are you troubled
Jesus has already made the way
Believe in Him
Follow him
Do his will
He and his Father are one and the have prepared a place for you!
