Genesis 8:1-22

Remembering Noah

a. Kept remembering; God did not forget
b. God was fulfilling His promise in His timing.
God’s timing has many of us “up in arms” today right?
Noah must have had to continue to exercise his patience here but I can imagine he was excited too.

The Ark at Rest

a. The mountains of Ararat
Turkey
b. Evidences: Just a few
Fossils and Sedimentary soils found high in the mountains. These are usually found at sea levels. This suggests the flood happened.

The Heart of the Story

2 Peter 2:4–5 ESV
For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but cast them into hell and committed them to chains of gloomy darkness to be kept until the judgment; if he did not spare the ancient world, but preserved Noah, a herald of righteousness, with seven others, when he brought a flood upon the world of the ungodly;
a. Will God punish the wicked?
b. Will God rescue the righteous from trials?

COVENANT

a. Noah gave consecration v.20
b. God is now pleased v 21
Genesis 8:21 ESV
And when the Lord smelled the pleasing aroma, the Lord said in his heart, “I will never again curse the ground because of man, for the intention of man’s heart is evil from his youth. Neither will I ever again strike down every living creature as I have done.

Promise of God

a. v 22
Isaiah 54:9–10 ESV
“This is like the days of Noah to me: as I swore that the waters of Noah should no more go over the earth, so I have sworn that I will not be angry with you, and will not rebuke you. For the mountains may depart and the hills be removed, but my steadfast love shall not depart from you, and my covenant of peace shall not be removed,” says the Lord, who has compassion on you.
