And dwelt among us

John 1:14 ESV
14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.
What is God’s glory?
I found an article by Clarence L. Haynes Jr. that broke the definition into 3 parts.
The first aspect of God’s glory is found in Psalm 19
Psalm 19:1 ESV
1 The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.
The article stated:
“His magnificence and splendor displayed in the heavens and the earth point to his glory, simply from the works of his hands.”
The Second aspect of God’s glory is found in 1 Corinthians chapter 10
1 Corinthians 10:31 ESV
31 So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
“Honor and praise are bestowed upon his name because of the things we do. In essence, we make him look good.”
I would add we point people towards Christ.
The third aspect of God’s glory is found in Acts 4
Acts 4:31 ESV
31 And when they had prayed, the place in which they were gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and continued to speak the word of God with boldness.
“In this way God shows up and his manifest presence invades a place. It could be in a church or even your home. The reality and experience of his presence transforms those who are in the midst.”
Now pause a moment and think about these three aspects of God’s glory and think about the incarnation of the Word we are studying this morning. Think about the glory of God found in Jesus Christ.
God’s magnificence displayed through creation.
Humans living in obedience point others to the Father.
God’s manifest presence showing up.
Acts 20:28 ESV
28 Pay careful attention to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to care for the church of God, which he obtained with his own blood.
Our Mediator is One who can sympathize with us, because He is very man. And yet, at the same time, He is One who can deal the Father for us on equal terms, because He is very God.

The first Adam was only man, so he fell. The second Adam was God as well as man, and so He completely conquered.

AMEN HALLELUJAH PRAISE THE LORD!
1 John 2:6 ESV
6 whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked.
1 Peter 1:24–25 ESV
24 for “All flesh is like grass and all its glory like the flower of grass. The grass withers, and the flower falls, 25 but the word of the Lord remains forever.” And this word is the good news that was preached to you.
1 Peter 1:4 ESV
4 to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you,
Romans 2:4 ESV
4 Or do you presume on the riches of his kindness and forbearance and patience, not knowing that God’s kindness is meant to lead you to repentance?
What does our text say about us? About humans?
John 1:14 ESV
14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.
I think it implies that we need Grace and truth. Is this still true today?
Let’s begin with the definition of Grace Bionically speaking.
In Christian terms, grace can be defined as “God’s favor toward the unworthy” or “God’s benevolence on the undeserving.” In His grace, God is willing to forgive us and bless us, even though we fall short of living righteously.

We know that according to Romans 3:23
Romans 3:23 ESV
23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
And the wages of that sin is death.
Romans 6:23 ESV
23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
So every person who ever lived, expect Jesus, was, is, or will be in need of grace. Jesus is the only source of that grace. I want to be very clear Jesus is the one that says this not me. This is not my opinion. Jesus said,
John 14:6 ESV
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
The world tells you that there are many ways to God or that there is no God or that He does exist but you will not be held responsible for your actions these are all lies from the pit of hell!
So every person ever born needs grace and truth and that is only found in Jesus.
What hope does this passage give us?
The hope I see this morning is that God wants intimacy with you this morning.
