Scripture: Mt 25

Background: Mt 24 is about the end times.

End times (Mt 24:4-14)

  • False prophecies
  • Wars
  • Famines and natural disasters
  • Faith and love turn cold

Therefore, keep watch, because you do not know which day the Lord will come. — Mt 24:44

———

I. Parable of the Ten Virgins

Kingdom of Heaven is like ten virgins with lamps. Five are wise. Five are foolish. Waiting for the groom. It's a long wait, and only the wise ones had enough oil. (vv.1-5)

Groom arrived at midnight. Five foolish virgins ran out of oil for their lamps and missed the banquet. (vv.6-10)

So what does it tell us?

We must be Ready for Jesus

---

II. Parable of the Talents

Master on long journey. Entrusting his property to three servants. 1st man was given one talent. 2nd man was given two talents. 3rd man given five talents. All according to their abilities. (vv.14-15)

  • 1 Talent + 0 = 0 (wicked and lazy)
  • 2 Talents + 2 = 4 (faithful)
  • 5 Talents + 5 = 11 (faithful)

So what does it tell us?

We are Accountable to Jesus

---

III. The Parable of the Sheep and the Goats

Then the King will say to those on his right, come, you who are blessed by my Father, take your inheritance, the Kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me. — vv.34-36

I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me. — Mt 25:40

So, what does it tell us?

We must Reach Out for Jesus

---

God’s compassion is for the poor & needy.

God’s heartbeat is for their eternal redemption.

And this Gospel of the Kingdom will be preached in the whole world … — Mt 24:14

All authority in Heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations … — Mt 28:18, 19

If Jesus is coming back tomorrow, are we ready today?

If Jesus is coming back tomorrow, what have we done for Him so far?

If Jesus is coming back tomorrow, when was the last time we shared His Gospel with someone?

The most powerful name in the world today is JESUS.

Why are we not sharing about Jesus?

Does the pandemic “lockdown” the Gospel?

The key is 1-to-1 Evangelism.
