THE AIM OF THIS THEME IS TO CULTIVATE IN THE HEARTS OF BELIEVERS A SEEING OF GOD IN SUCH A WAY THAT INVOKES GREATER WORSHIP; MORE INTENTIONAL WORSHIP.

TODAY, WE TURN OUR MINDS TO CHRIST - GOD THE SON.

FOR GOD IT WAS BE IN AWE

BUT FOR JESUS IT IS SOMETHING QUITE DIFFERENT

THE PROBLEM IS THIS:

FOR SO MANY JESUS IS JUST A PERSON. THAT’S IT. YES HE IS SPECIAL, BUT HE IS NOT THAT SPECIAL. YES HE IS WORTHY, BUT NOT THAT WORHTY. YES, HE DID SOME GREAT THINGS BUT NOT THAT GREAT.

AND WITH THESE WORDS I AM SPEAKING ABOUT MEN AND WOMEN WHO DAWN CHURCHES EVERY SUNDAY. ABOUT THOSE WHO STAND TO PREACH AND TEACH THE GOSPEL WEEK AFTER WEEK.

FOR THE NEXT FEW WEEKS I WANT TO CALL THE CHURCH AND ALL OF HUMANITY WHO WOULD HEAR WHAT I BELIEVE CHRIST IS SAYING TO THE CHURCH AND WORLD:

PUT SOME RESPECT ON MY NAME: I AM THE LORD

Acts 2:36 ESV

Let all the house of Israel therefore know for certain that God has made him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom you crucified.”

TO BE CALLED “LORD” SPEAKS TO THE FOLLOWING

- Meaning

God’s control: He has ultimate Control over all of creation

God’s Authority: He has ultimate authority to command

God’s Presence: He has ultimate eviction power

The Chief message of the OT is God Is Lord

The chief message of the NT is Jesus Christ is Lord

called LORD 747 times

Christ has ultimate control over creation

Colossians 1:16 ESV

For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him.

Christ has ultimate authority to command allegiance

Matthew 28:18 ESV

And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.

Christ is the Presence of God

Matthew 1:23 ESV

“Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel” (which means, God with us).

- HE IS NOT JUST A MAN HE IS THE GOD-MAN

- HE IS NOT JUST A PROPHET HE IS SAVIOR

- HE IS NOT JUST A WAY – HE IS THE ONLY WAY

HE IS LORD…PUT SOME RESPECT ON HIS NAME

THEY DID NOT SIMPLY CRUCIFY A MAN

1 Corinthians 2:7 ESV

But we impart a secret and hidden wisdom of God, which God decreed before the ages for our glory.

1 Corinthians 2:8 ESV

None of the rulers of this age understood this, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.

HOW TO PUT RESPECT IN HIS NAME?

I. Live Like He is Lord Over Your Life

o No right to call myself a Christian if He is not Lord over your life

Acts 16:31 ESV

And they said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.”

Lord – Not

o Husband

o Homeboy

o Co-pilot

o Not even mere friend

Romans 10:9 (ESV)

... if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

Matthew 7:22 ESV

On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’

JESUS IS THE LORD

- Putting some respect on His name or, like my momma would say would I acted out of the Burns name:

o “Boy, you better act like you got some darned sense” or “Boy don’t be out there acting like you don’t have any home training.”

· To act like you have some heavenly training

o So, when you put respect on His name

II. EXPECT LORDSHIP TROUBLE

trouble is the sign that you are putting some respect on His name. To family and friends – What’s Love Got to Do with It? But LORD has EVERYTHING to do with it

When you start acting like Jesus is Lord here is what will happen

o But when you act like you have divine sense and act like you have some heavenly training…people will be saved
