I. If there is no Gossiping:

A. No Wood, Gossip, the Fire Goes Out and No Talebearer, the Strife Ceases

Pr 26:20 Where no wood is, there the fire goeth out: So where there is no talebearer, the strife ceaseth

B. The Words of a Talebearer Wounds People, It Goes Down to the Innermost Parts of a Person
Pr 26:22 “22 The words of a talebearer are as wounds, And they go down into the innermost parts of the belly.”
C. Don’t Go Around With Persons That Flattereth with His Lips
Pr 20:19 “19 He that goeth about as a talebearer revealeth secrets: Therefore meddle not with him that flattereth with his lips.”
D. Don’t Be Around Persons Who Go House to House Being Tattlers and Busybodies, Speaking Things That They Ought Not to Say
I Ti 5:13 “13 And withal they learn to be idle, wandering about from house to house; and not only idle, but tattlers also and busybodies, speaking things which they ought not.”
E. An Hypocrite Mouth Destroys His Neighbor, But the Just Through Knowledge Delivers
Pr 11:9 “9 An hypocrite with his mouth destroyeth his neighbour: But through knowledge shall the just be delivered.”
F. You Are a Fool, If You Have Lying Lips and Uttereth Slander
Pr 10:18 “18 He that hideth hatred with lying lips, And he that uttereth a slander, is a fool.”
II. We Also Should Not Be a Backbiter
A. It is One of the Sins of All Unrighteous Persons
Ro 1:28-30 “28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; 29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, 30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,”
B. Paul Feared That When Would Come That People in the Church Would Be Practicing Sins Which Included Backbiting
2 Cor 12:20 “20 For I fear, lest, when I come, I shall not find you such as I would, and that I shall be found unto you such as ye would not: lest there be debates, envyings, wraths, strifes, backbitings, whisperings, swellings, tumults:”
