HE TOUCHED ME
Does anybody in here have a dog for a
pet? We have a dog named Max. Max loves
to be rubbed and petted. Max loves it so
much that he will move his body around
so that you will touch him in the spot that
he wants to be touched in at that time.
There is something about the human
touch that he loves.
We as human beings like the personal
touch from another human being.
Husbands and wives (man and woman)
love the touch of their spouse. A loving
touch from your spouse communicates
the love and affection that they have for you.
But there is something greater in a touch
that you get from Jesus. Yes it is true that
a touch from Jesus indicates his love for
us but it also brings a life altering change.
A change that starts on the inside and
works its way on the outside. A change
that the world can see. A change that will
cause you to say, somebody touched me.
SERMON POINTS
Verse When he was come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed him.
1 - PEOPLE LOVE YOU WHEN YOU ARE ON TOP.
Jesus had finished up the sermon on the
mount in chapter seven . The people were
astonished at his teaching. Jesus taught
at a level that the scribes could not teach
at.
Mat 7:28  And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine:
Mat 7:29  For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.
So when Jesus moved the crowd moved
with him. He was popular right now. But I
have no doubt in my mind that some of
these same people later in Jesus’s
ministry would be some of the ones
crying crucify him.
People will turn on you too. When you are
popular they are with you. But say
something they don’t like or let them see
God bless you openly. They will crucify
you with their mouths.
Luke 6:26  Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you!
PEOPLE LOVE YOU WHEN YOU ARE ON TOP.
Verse 2  And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.
He came to Jesus, acknowledging His
authority as Lord .
2- WORSHIP SHOULD PRECEDE OUR REQUEST
This leper came to Jesus acknowledging
his authority as lord. The law of the leper
should have kept him away from Jesus.
But this man had a need that the doctors
could not fulfill. Perhaps he heard Jesus
teaching from a distance and realized that
this man spoke with authority like no
other man.
This leper had no doubt in him about
Jesus being able to heal him, if thou wilt,
thou canst make me clean. *
Hebrews 11:6  But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
WORSHIP SHOULD PRECEDE OUR REQUEST
3- HE TOUCHED ME AND I CAN’T KEEP IT TO MYSELF
Matthew 8:3  And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.
4  And Jesus saith unto him, See thou tell no man; but go thy way, shew thyself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.
Jesus reached out and touched this leper
and the leprosy had no choice but to
leave this man’s body. It didn’t take days,
it didn’t take hours and it didn’t take
minutes. The scripture reads and
immediately his leprosy was cleansed. His
body said to the leprosy so long bye bye.*
Then Jesus tells the man don’t tell
anybody about this until you have
presented yourself to the priests at the
temple.
The proper sacrifice for cleansing from
leprosy, as Moses prescribed (Lev. 14;
two birds, wood, yarn, and hyssop on
the first day [Lev. 14:4–8]; and on the
eighth day two male lambs, a ewe lamb,
flour, and oil [Lev. 14:10]). Apparently
Jesus wanted the priest to be the first to
examine him.
One can imagine the dramatic impact
when this man suddenly appeared at the
temple and announced to the priests he
had been cured of leprosy! This event
would have led to an examination of the
circumstances surrounding the healing.
Jesus in effect was presenting His
“calling card” to the priests, for they
would have to investigate His claims.
But this man disobeyed Jesus according
to Mark 1:45 But he went out, and began
to publish it much, and to blaze abroad
the matter, insomuch that Jesus could no
more openly enter into the city, but was
without in desert places: and they came
to him from every quarter.  *
HE TOUCHED ME AND I CAN’T KEEP IT TO MYSELF
For those of you that know he touched
you it was like fire shut up in your bones
and you couldn’t keep it to your self.
Remember the zeal you had when you
first got save. You wanted to tell
everybody. In fact back in 1988 when I
got saved they would tell you to go and
tell at least two people what the Lord
had done for you. And you would tell
them, HE SAVED ME! HE SAVED ME!! HE
SAVED ME!!! *
The late Margaret Allison wrote these
words many years ago, touch me Lord
Jesus with thy hand of mercy. Let each
thumping heartbeat feel your power
divine. Take my will forever, I will never
doubt thee ever. Cleanse me dear savior.
Make me holy thine.
In the old sanctified church where I got
saved after a Holy Ghost moving prayer
somebody would stand up and say,
He touched me, O, He touched me, and
O, the joy that floods my soul;
Something happened, and now I know,
He touched me and made me whole.
