Intro Sermon -
Have you ever struggled with purpose in life? Or knowing God’s will?
We constantly get tripped up on God’s will and what it means. We are lead by our emotions and not But for incoming students, we would probably shoot for the end of Apriby the Word of God.
**Story about First Year Relationship**
(end when I’ve agreed to go with Blake)
That’s often how we interpret God’s will and purpose in our life. Maybe you’ve even wondering yourself, what is my purpose and what does God want from my life and you are honestly trying to please God but aren’t sure what to do or where to go.
Today I want to draw attention to our attention to what I believe is our Ultimate Purpose in life.
I believe that the entirety of history and our individual purpose in life can be summed up in one statement:
To Know Him and Make Him Known

KNOW HIM

Give context and background
You have to know someone intimately in order to tell someone else about them, much less make them give up their lives to follow his teachings.
Jesus’ Pray in John 17:3 “This is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and the one you have sent—Jesus Christ.”
So, simply put, do you know Jesus?
Jesus has done EVERYTHING to get to know you - The Gospel

THE CENTRALITY OF CHRIST

15 He is the image of the invisible God,

the firstborn over all creation.

16 For everything was created by him,

in heaven and on earth,

the visible and the invisible,

whether thrones or dominions

or rulers or authorities—

all things have been created through him and for him.

17 He is before all things,

and by him all things hold together.

18 He is also the head of the body, the church;

he is the beginning,

the firstborn from the dead,

so that he might come to have

first place in everything.

19 For God was pleased to have

all his fullness dwell in him,

20 and through him to reconcile

everything to himself,

whether things on earth or things in heaven,

by making peace

through his blood, shed on the cross.,

**Story about Blake taking my punishment**
4. And if you do know Him, are you pursuing that relationship with Him?
**Finish story about going to drive with Blake to Pittsburgh**

MAKE HIM KNOWN

Jesus tells us to make disciples - which means that we are making disciples of Him and not disciples of us.
Jesus himself fulfilled this purpose: John 17:25-26 “Righteous Father, the world has not known you. However, I have known you, and they have known that you sent me. I made your name known to them and will continue to make it known, so that the love you have loved me with may be in them and I may be in them.””
Jesus didn’t tell us HOW to make Him known. He just gave us the what to do.
If we understand our Ultimate Purpose is to Know Him and Make Him Known, then we can be free to pursue our interests and talents as we use them in service of the King.
If you know your Purpose you can Know Him and Make Him Known no matter:
who you marry
what job you have
where you live
how many kids you have
how much money you have
No matter your trauma
No matter your family or where you come from
No matter your health
You can literally be fulfilling that purpose RIGHT now.
