Welcome
Giving of the bride
Doubly blessed is the couple which comes to this moment with the approval of their families and friends. Who has the honor of presenting Kaitlyn to be married to Paul?
“Her mother and I do.” or “We do.”
Message
Declaration of Intent
Having freely and prayerfully chosen each other as partners for life, and in an expression of your total commitment to one another, I invite you to face each other and join hands.
To Groom:
Groom, do you take Bride, to be your wife, to live together in the covenant of marriage? Do you promise to love her, and, forsaking all others to be faithful to her as long as you both shall live?
I do.
To Bride:
Bride, do you take Groom, to be your husband, to live together in the covenant of marriage? Do you promise to love him, and, forsaking all others to be faithful to him as long as you both shall live?
I do.
Exchange of Vows
Please give careful attention to the following vows. If they truly represent the posture of your hearts, then repeat after me.
"I, Groom . . . , take you, Bride . . . , to be my wife . . . , to have and to hold . . . , from this day forward . . . , for better, for worse . . . , for richer, for poorer . . . , in sickness and in health . . . , to love and to cherish . . . , as long as we both shall live.... This is my promise to you."
"I, Bride . . . , take you, Groom . . . , to be my husband . . . , to have and to hold . . . , from this day forward . . . , for better, for worse . . . , for richer, for poorer . . . , in sickness and in health . . . , to love and to cherish . . . , as long as we both shall live.... This is my promise to you."
Exchange of Rings
Groom, as you place this symbol of your love and affection upon the finger of Bride, repeat this promise after me:
I give you this ring as a symbol of my love... and with all that I am and all that I have... I honor you ... in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit."
Bride, as you place this symbol of your love on his finger, repeat this promise after me:
I give you this ring as a symbol of my love... and with all that I am and all that I have... I honor you… in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit."
Prayer
Pronouncement
You have pledged your faith in and love to each other. You have sealed your solemn marital vows by giving and receiving the rings. Therefore in view of the vows here published before God and these witnesses, as a minister of the Gospel of our Lord, and by the powers vested in me by the State of Virginia, I do now pronounce you, Groom, and, Bride, husband and wife; in interest and destiny as one, so long as you both shall live.
You may kiss the bride.
