Luke 5:27-32

Jesus extends his invitation to people who know something is wrong but are not sure what to do about it. He invites people who know they are not all they ought to be. He did not ask Matthew/Levi to clean up his act before following him, and Jesus doesn’t ask that of us.
In time, within the context of his relationship with Jesus, Matthew experienced incredible life transformation.
Jesus came to save sinners- John 3:16
John 3:16 NRSV
“For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life.
The Bible Exposition Commentary Chapter Four: The Difference Jesus Makes (Luke 5)

What a wonderful Physician Jesus is! He comes to us in love; He calls us; He saves us when we trust Him;

Following Jesus is telling others what Jesus has done for you. It is a call to commitment. It is a call to transformation.
Matthew experienced the transforming Grace of God and couldn’t help but to throw a party with his friends and Jesus.
You will never be the same when you follow Jesus. Jesus came to those who were aware of their spiritual needs to experience the transforming power of God.
