1. God’s Word gives the boundaries for our life
Lust
28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.
14 Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children:
15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
Lord, you speak against adultery in my heart
Gluttony
2 And put a knife to thy throat, If thou be a man given to appetite.
Pro 23:21 For the drunkard and the glutton shall come to poverty: and drowsiness shall clothe a man with rags.
Pro 28:7 Whoso keepeth the law is a wise son: but he that is a companion of riotous men shameth his father.
20 Be not among winebibbers; Among riotous eaters of flesh:
Alcohol
Do you want to be wise
Alcohol leads to bondage
Pro 23:29 Who hath woe? who hath sorrow? who hath contentions? who hath babbling? who hath wounds without cause? who hath redness of eyes?
Pro 23:30 They that tarry long at the wine; they that go to seek mixed wine.
Pro 23:31 Look not thou upon the wine when it is red, when it giveth his colour in the cup, when it moveth itself aright.
Pro 23:32 At the last it biteth like a serpent, and stingeth like an adder.
Pro 23:33 Thine eyes shall behold strange women, and thine heart shall utter perverse things.
Pro 23:34 Yea, thou shalt be as he that lieth down in the midst of the sea, or as he that lieth upon the top of a mast.
Pro 23:35 They have stricken me, shalt thou say, and I was not sick; they have beaten me, and I felt it not: when shall I awake? I will seek it yet again.
Anything that can cause you to lose control is not for you as a christian.
Wrath:
11 The discretion of a man deferreth his anger; And it is his glory to pass over a transgression.
20 For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.
It is impossible to use wrath for God’s purposes
Disciplining should be done
4 Wrath is cruel, and anger is outrageous; But who is able to stand before envy?
Bitterness:
15 Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled;
Diligently
Biblically we should let all bitterness go
31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:
32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.
19 Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them.
Be Addicted To God’s Kingdom And It’s Principles
Last night someone said, “We get to say, I’ll see you tomorrow for church!”
To that I said, what if we could say that everyday?
1Co 16:13 Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.
1Co 16:14 Let all your things be done with charity.
1Co 16:15 I beseech you, brethren, (ye know the house of Stephanas, that it is the firstfruits of Achaia, and that they have addicted themselves to the ministry of the saints,)
Addicted = to arrange in an orderly manner, that is, assign or dispose
1 Peter 4:10 (KJV) As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.
Addicted to helping the saints
A ministry in your life
Sharing Christ
20 For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.
Arrange you life
We have gospel invite cards - arrange your life
Prayer
Submitting to God’s leadership through His Holy Spirit allows us to regulate our passions and seek the things of eternal value.
At our best we are nothing
Lord, fill me with your spirit!
Lord, guide me by your grace
16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
Pursuing
5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
Carnality, flesh brings death
We desire life and peace
Fulfilling the lusts of the flesh robs us of The Spirits fulness
13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?
