One of the most important passages of all Scriptures for the one that wishes to follow after Jesus.
The Lord’s Prayer has been dissected broken up and taught by 1000’s of Bible teachers. All of which can do it better than me. But where I can claim no expertise, I can claim to be a follower of Jesus Christ. This is the claim of any who approach this text. It is not meant to be merely be written and taught.
It is meant to be lived. Practiced and lived. This is the beauty of the Lord’s Prayer. It’s not the Lord’s Prayer. It is ours. It is the Disciples’ Prayer. “After this manner therefore pray ye.” (9)
Worship is the Responsibility of all Believers.
(Private Prayer)
“Hallowed be thy name”…
Explanation: Worship is simply putting God where he belongs in the priorities of your heart. As you pray lift him up… Tell him why you are grateful to him, what attributes you love about him. If you need a little prompting, try praying Psalm 18, 21, 30, 32, 34, 40, 41, 66, 106, 116, 138 as a starting place.
Exodus 15:11 KJV 1900
Who is like unto thee, O Lord, among the gods? Who is like thee, glorious in holiness, Fearful in praises, doing wonders?
Confession is the Opposite of Denial.
(Private Prayer)
“Forgive us our debts...”
To those forgiven sinners he instructs to confess our sins. Don’t hide them. Don’t conceal them. Don’t make light of them. Confess them.
1 John 1:7 KJV 1900
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
1 John 1:9 KJV 1900
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Psalm 66:18 KJV 1900
If I regard iniquity in my heart, The Lord will not hear me:
Explanation: Confess all known sin to the Lord and seek his forgiveness. Take time to sit silently and let the Holy Spirit remind your heart of unconfessed sin that you have tried to bury or have hardened your conscience too.
God’s Heart is Captured in the Work of Intercession.

“Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done...”
1 Timothy 2:1 KJV 1900
I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
Explanation: Take time to lift these requests to the Lord.
In preparation for Mission’s Conference. We will intercede for our missionaries.

Travel
We want to cover their trip to and from South Knollwood in prayer. We want our missionaries to travel freely. We recognize there are thousands and thousands of accidents on the roadway every year. I have said for years that every mile God gives to us that is accident free is a gift from him.
Comfort
Our prayer for their comfort is not to produce a sense of ease but rather that our missionaries will find themselves at home with friends. The cares of the life back on the field will get small and they will know that friends have planned for their good.
Health
Very closely related is our prayer for their health. We want them to thrive physically. We know that the Garcias are facing health problems and can you our prayer. Along with her is the needs of Mrs. Trask. But undoubtedly there are other requests so we will make preparation in prayer.
Spiritual Refreshment
Missionaries are not exempt from Spiritual discouragement and hurt. In fact our enemy would love to stall out their ministry before they can see any more souls saved. So we pray for their Spiritual encouragement. And ask God to use this conference to help our missionaries recharge their batteries.
Effectiveness
We want our missionaries to make an impact on our lives. They have a message to give to us and we must be ready. Pray that God will used the preached word to challenge and change us. They have a burden to transfer. So pray that you will catch the vision that they have for the lost of their field.
Supplication allows me to Surrender my control to the Lord. 10-15 min
“Give us this day our daily bread”...
Supplication is the act of seeking my needs in the hand of God.
Explanation: This is the point where we pray for our needs as a church.
Many of you have brought your own requests. Please share those with your partner and the two of you together
Galatians 6:2 KJV 1900
Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.

Disciples and Discipleship
Consider the needs of South Knollwood.
The parking lot needs God’s supernatural provision. We can attempt to raise the funds and each time the price of the project seems to grow. Many years in and we have finally collected enough to start the first of four phases. So pastor is calling on the congregation to take this need to him in prayer. We will acknowledge that our need is greater than we can possibly come up with on our own. We need his intervention.
The Believer Partners with God when they Pray for Deliverance.
5-8 min
“Lead us not into temptation...”
Christ has overcome our sin. Not just the penalty but the power of sin. Temptation is not final. Temptation is not prophecy. Temptation was not anything you are expected to handle alone. That area of your life you think is impossible. That attitude, that bitterness, that tongue, that thought. It all surrenders to the power of God. God is greater than your flesh he is greater than temptation.
Explanation: Let us pray for the protection of the Lord for our church Body. Let us pray that God will convict us of sin and stop the plan that Satan has for us. Let us pray for the Fathers and Husbands of this congregation to have pure hearts and clean minds. Let us pray that Mothers and Wives will live peaceably in the church, holy before the community, and to place their hope on his word not the measure of the world. Let us pray for Children that Honor their parents and claim the God of their mother and father.
Praise fastens its Focus on the Perfection of God.
“thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory...”
What Jesus starts in worship he ends in praise. Praise is to lift ones’ attributes and to laud one’s goodness. Here we find Jesus putting the father right where he belongs. At the pinnacle of all
the Kingdom
the Power
the Glory
When we praise God we are lifting up his qualities for those around us. We should be mindful of this. That praise turns its attention on God. It is not enough to simply look at the good things around us. These are blessings but we would be simple to fail to look up to the one who provides us all good things.
Explanation: Lets pray to the Lord a hymn of praise. Please pray not for volume, but for meaning… Consider the words before you.
Hymn: Blessed Assurance pg. 345
