INTRODUCTION:
Review: Dead to sin, Alive to God
WHY?…
Romans 12:2 (ESV)
2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
TODAY: OUR MINDS
Battle between Christian Identity and identities that are not in compatible with being “in Christ” (i.e. incongruent)
Battle between—Faith—Fear!
Want trust God—Want be control
Confidence in calling—Crippling insecurity paralyzes
Most of life’s battles are won or lost in your mind. (Battlefield)
The Battle:
Romans 7:22-23 “22 For I delight in the law of God, in my inner being, 23 but I see in my members another law waging war against the law of my mind and making me captive to the law of sin that dwells in my members.”
Romans 7:24-25 “24 Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? 25 Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself serve the law of God with my mind, but with my flesh I serve the law of sin.”
Romans 8:2 “2 For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.”
Romans 8:5-6 “5 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. 6 For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace.”

Power to Destroy Strongholds

2 Corinthians 10:3-4 “3 For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. 4 For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds.”
1 Corinthians 1:18 “18 For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.”

What Does Our Spiritual Enemy Do?

Shapes your thinking—One thought at time—Prison of lies
U can’t trust. Won’t succeed. Always broke. Never good marriage.
God doesn’t hear prayers. Doesn’t care. Never make diff. Amount.
2 Corinthians 10:5 “5 We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ,”

How Are Your Thoughts Directing Your Life?

Science/Bible agree—Cognitive Behavior Psychology shows Relational challenges, eating disorders, addictions, Some forms of anxiety—Direct result of toxic thinking.
Proverbs 23:7 (NKJV)
7 For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.
Think you can’t—Probably won’t. Think can—Probably will.
Dwell problems—Overwhelm you. Look solutions—See some.
Feel like victim—Become one. Believe overcome X—Can.
THOUGHT AUDIT
Worried: People think—Kids—Future—$—Job—Health.

Not loveable—Never good enough—Don’t deserve anything good.

To think in a different wayForge a new path in your brain.
More you walk the pathEasier becomes travel.
More you stay off old path—Weakens—Harder it is to think again.

Eph. 6:17-18 “17 and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, 18 praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints,”
