I. Punishment For Sins vs. 26-31
A. For these believers to leave and go back would be insulting to Yahweh.
B. They would be heaping judgement on themselves, and saying that God’s sacrifice was void.
C. Just like the punishment for the violating of the law was severe, so how much worse would setting aside Jesus sacrifice be.
D. Yahweh will have His vengeance, don’t try and do it yourself.
II. Persecuted For Faith vs. 32-35
A. The writer is telling them to remember all they’ve suffered for Christ’s sake.
B. He saying if they give up, they will receive no reward but prove their faith was a lie.
C. Someone might fall away, but they will never walk away from the faith entirely. Though they will face the consequences. (Lonnie Fresbie ex)
III. Persevering For The Soul vs. 36-39
A. God gives us the strength to endure. Sometimes it is moment by moment, other times it’s day by day.
B. God will preserve His saints. So don’t shrink back from what He has called you to endure.
