The Blessings of our Justification March 11, 2023 Romans 5:1-11 1 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith,… Romans 4:25 25 He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification. Romans 5:1-11 1 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith,… Romans 4:25 25 He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification. Justification - A legal term that means “to acquit” Romans 5:1-11 1 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith,… Amplified Bible Therefore, since we have been justified [that is, acquitted of sin, declared blameless before God] by faith, The Message 1Our faith in Jesus transfers God’s righteousness to us and he now declares us flawless in his eyes. Romans 5:1-11 1 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God. Romans 5:1-11 3 Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4 perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us. Romans 5:1-11 The Message 3But that’s not all! Even in times of trouble we have a joyful confidence, knowing that our pressures will develop in us patient endurance. 4And patient endurance will refine our character, and proven character leads us back to hope. 5And this hope is not a disappointing fantasy, because we can now experience the endless love of God cascading into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who lives in us! Romans 5:1-11 6 You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. 7 Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. 8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:1-11 9 Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him! Romans 5:1-11 9 Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him! 10 For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life! Romans 5:1-11 9 Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him! 10 For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life! 11 Not only is this so, but we also boast in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation. Because we have been justified… 1. Peace with God 2. Access to grace 3. Hope of the glory of God 4. Christian character 5. Love of God 6. Holy Spirit 7. Saved 8. Reconciled The Message 9-11 Now that we are set right with God by means of this sacrificial death, the consummate blood sacrifice, there is no longer a question of being at odds with God in any way. If, when we were at our worst, we were put on friendly terms with God by the sacrificial death of his Son, now that we’re at our best, just think of how our lives will expand and deepen by means of his resurrection life! Now that we have actually received this amazing friendship with God, we are no longer content to simply say it in plodding prose. We sing and shout our praises to God through Jesus, the Messiah!
