Introduction

Telling a great story and words pile up.
Paul’s excitement for the person of Jesus.
Why should we be excited about Jesus?
Because of His plan for you.

Text

Paul’s statement of worship.
Blessed = good word
Eulogy. Let’s brag on God for who He is and what He has done.
Fuel of worship.
Overflow of that character marks us.
Fountain pens - inkling.
God blessed you to be pure.
vv. 1b - 4
Every - God left nothing out
Chosen you - holy and blameless - sacrifice. Pleasing! Not guilt ridden.
When? This was always His plan. God isn’t surprised.
5 pound stones. Ankle weights while running.
The freedom when that weight is removed.
This is what Christ does, he removes the weight of sin.
God marked you to be forgiven.
vv. 5-8
Placement of “In love...” Nature of this passage.
Adoption - a legal transformation of relationship.
Predestined - to be marked.
Towards family.
“According to the purpose of His will.”
Same phrase of Paul’s calling.
Cattle get out. Back into their boundaries. Honk horn.
Marked to for us to provide food, water, safety.
God marks us to be His. But sons to Him.
Romans 8:15–17 ESV
15 For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!” 16 The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him.
This redemption (v. 7) cost Him something - the blood of Jesus. His life.
God revealed to you to be unified.
vv. 9-10
Mystery - a previously unknown secret.
He has had a plan this whole time.
Unite all things in Christ - All-inclusive language.
That plan is for unity.
Plan = House rule. Examples.
This is God’s house rule: be unified.
Mystery because of the Jew / Gentile split.
Quite the opposite of how we spend our time, even in the church.
One of the ways the church is to be different.

Conclusion

Disneyland Trip. Incredibles. Avengers Tower.
It’s a different experience when you are in the line or in the ride.
Life is Christ is superior.
All of it is “In Christ.” 7Xs.
Emphasis of being “In Christ.”
By asking Him to forgive you and committing your life to Him.
Then, your life is transformed.
