Building our Spiritual Gifts
Building our Spiritual Gifts
One thing we need to do as we continue to learn and grow our spiritual gifts to use them.
So to recap last week we talked about how the Holy Spirit gives you spiritual gifts and you need to ask to receive the Holy Spirit.
We want you as leaders to receive the Holy Spirit, as with Him there is a lot in life that is easier.
Now we have said how to receive the spiritual gifts, how to fiqure out yours and kinda what they are for but what now, what is the most pratical thing to do with your spiritual gifts? Well to that I wanna talk about Pauls spiritual gifts list in Romans 12, where he talks about how to use them:
For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you.
For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function,
so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.
We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith;
if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach;
if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.
So he is suggesting that if you have a gift you need to use it, because that is how we are to love each other like Paul says later. We are to love each other by using our gifts to help each other.
So what that looks like is:
if you gift is to prophesy then you are help give others visions or messages from God. What does that look like today? Prayer teams, that you could help bring clarity to peoples choices, that you individually would be praying for people or asking God for advice in other peoples lives. Even more is that you would help bring vision for the local church.
What would it look like in youth group is that you could prophesy about what youth would look like in the future, or what God would want us to do to contiune to reach teens in Vermilion.
How about encouragement, maybe you need to volunteer with those who are sad or down.
So lets talk about ministries that I think you should consider serving in and starting to use your gifts

The real question for you is are you ready to use your gifts to serve the Church. We are not called to be people who consume what the church gives, like a service that is only there to give for us but we are supposed to help and support each other and reach out to new people and that is what the spiritual gifts are all about.
So if you heard this message all month and you still don’t know what your spiritual gift is, I want to encourage you to meet with a ministry leader and talk about how you can help with their minsitry, and do it beause you want to learn more about yourself while helping others.
Let me tell you why I became a pastor:
The number one reason I became a pastor is because I wanted to learn and grow myself, then to help others.
