Denying self and following Jesus 1. Testing Jesus by asking for a sign 1... 'The Pharisees and Sadducees came to Jesus and tested him by asking him to show them a sign from heaven. 2 He replied, "When evening comes, you say, 'It will be fair weather, for the sky is red,' 3 and in the morning, 'Today it will be stormy, for the sky is red and overcast.' You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs of the times.[a] 4 A wicked and adulterous generation looks for a sign, but none will be given it except the sign of Jonah." Jesus then left them and went away. 2. Yeast of Pharisees and Saducees 5 When they went across the lake, the disciples forgot to take bread. 6 "Be careful," Jesus said to them. "Be on your guard against the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees." 7 They discussed this among themselves and said, "It is because we didn't bring any bread." 8 Aware of their discussion, Jesus asked, "You of little faith, why are you talking among yourselves about having no bread? 9 Do you still not understand? Don't you remember the five loaves for the five thousand, and how many basketfuls you gathered? 10 Or the seven loaves for the four thousand, and how many basketfuls you gathered? 11 How is it you don't understand that I was not talking to you about bread? But be on your guard against the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees." 3. Peter : Blessed rock of the church and used by Satan 15 "But what about you?" he asked. "Who do you say I am?" 16 Simon Peter answered, "You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God." ... 22 Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him. "Never, Lord!" he said. "This shall never happen to you!" 23 Jesus turned and said to Peter, "Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me; you do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns." 4. Denying self and following Jesus 24 Then Jesus said to his disciples, "Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. 25 For whoever wants to save their life[f] will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it. 26 What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Questions: 1.Testing Jesus by asking for a sign A. When you seek God's guidance, are you ready to lay down everything to follow Him? B. Or, do you just want Him to confirm what you want? 2.Yeast of Pharisees and Saducees A. Our little bias can be amplified greatly with modern technologies. Do you perceive the objective realities? B. Some facts won't agree with you. Do realities make you uncomfortable? Do you shy away these inconvenient truths? Do you only hang out with people that agree with you? C. Who are you following? Who are following you? 3.Peter: Blessed Rock of the church and used by Satan A. Peter shone in moments of Godliness; yet he also failed multiple times. Ultimately Jesus restored him and made him leader of the church. What's your storyline? B. When do you shine? C. What do you fail? D. You have moments of triumphs and failures. Will you be stuck in these moments? Or, would you run a good race, fight the good fight, keep the faith until you meet the One that crown you with righteousness? 4.Denying self and following Jesus A. What is your "design"? Do you know? B. Is there any vision of life that you are clinging to so fiercely that you are afraid of anything that threatens it. Are you holding on so tightly to something that you are choking the life out of life? C. What does "denying yourself" mean in your case? 3月12日 马太福音16章 在你身上建造我的教会 1. 求神迹试探耶稣 2. 法利赛人和撒都该人的酵 3. 彼得：教会蒙福的磐石，被撒旦利用 4. 舍己跟从耶稣 1. 法利赛人求神迹 1法利赛人和撒都该人来试探耶稣，请他从天上显个神迹给他们看。 2耶稣回答说："晚上天发红，你们就说，'天必要晴'；3早晨天发红，又发黑，你们就说，'今日必有风雨'。你们知道分辨天上的气色，倒不能分辨这时候的神迹。4一个邪恶淫乱的世代求神迹，除了约拿的神迹以外，再没有神迹给他看。"耶稣就离开他们去了。 2. 防备法利赛人和撒都该人的酵 5门徒渡到那边去，忘了带饼。 6耶稣对他们说："你们要谨慎，防备法利赛人和撒都该人的酵。" 7门徒彼此议论说："这是因为我们没有带饼吧！" 8耶稣看出来，就说："你们这小信的人，为什么因为没有饼彼此议论呢？ 9你们还不明白吗？不记得那五个饼分给五千人，又收拾了多少篮子的零碎吗？ 10也不记得那七个饼分给四千人，又收拾了多少筐子的零碎吗？ 11我对你们说：'要防备法利赛人和撒都该人的酵'，这话不是指着饼说的，你们怎么不明白呢？" 3. 彼得：教会蒙福的磐石，被撒旦利用 15耶稣说："你们说我是谁？" 16西门彼得回答说："你是基督，是永生　神的儿子。 22彼得就拉着他，劝他说："主啊，万不可如此！这事必不临到你身上。" 23耶稣转过来，对彼得说："撒但，退我后边去吧！你是绊我脚的，因为你不体贴　神的意思，只体贴人的意思。" 4. 舍己跟从耶稣 24于是，耶稣对门徒说："若有人要跟从我，就当舍己，背起他的十字架，来跟从我。25因为凡要救自己生命的（"生命"或作"灵魂"。下同），必丧掉生命；凡为我丧掉生命的，必得着生命。26人若赚得全世界，赔上自己的生命，有什么益处呢？人还能拿什么换生命呢？ 问题： 1. 求神迹试探耶稣 A. 当你寻求神的带领时，你准备好放下一切跟随神了吗？ B. 或者，你只是想让他确认你想要什么？ 2. 法利赛人和撒都该人的酵 A. 我们的小偏见可以通过现代技术放大许多。你了解客观现实吗？ B. 有些事实和你的认知不同。 现实会让你不舒服吗？ 你回避这些不便的事实吗？ 你只和认同你的人交往吗？ C. 你在追随谁？ 谁在追随你？ 3. 彼得：教会蒙福的磐石，被撒旦利用 A. 彼得在敬虔的时刻发光；但他也多次失败。最终耶稣挽回了他，并任命他为教会的领袖。 你的故事线是什么？ B. 你什么时候发光？ C. 你有哪些失败？ D. 你有胜利和失败的时刻。你会被困在这些时刻吗？ 还是，你会跑一场美好的赛程，打一场正义的仗，持守信心，直到遇见那位以公义为你冠冕的人吗？ 4. 舍己跟从耶稣 A. 你的"设计"是什么？ 你知道吗？ B. 是否有生命愿景让你特别强烈的坚持，以至于你害怕任何威胁它的东西。你是否紧紧抓住某样东西，以至于把生命从生命中扼杀了？ C. 对你而言，"舍己"是什么意思？
