Blessing of spiritual Fruit

Recap from last week we studied blessing of godliness. We learned that not only did God save us but he imparted everything we needed to live a life that brings glory and honor to his name. In the end he will present the church to himself holy, and without blemish and only He can make that possible. See Eph. 5:27 “That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.” With God all things are possible . Even when Jesus told his disciples that easier for a a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter in the kingdom of God . They asked Him , who then can be saved, and Jesus looked at them and said to them with Men this is impossible but with God all things are possible see Matt.19:24-28.Where God lead you to He will always see you through. He always will equip you with what you need to fulfill the destiny he has planned for your life,. Strength in the christian life comes only by drawing close to God as we allow him to speak to us as we study his word. When we neglect the truths of scripture we become weak christians , We soon become ineffective in our Christian lives and in our daily task of witnessing to others. The body of Christ is only as strong as the individual members,.When we seriously study the word , it makes the entire body stronger.

FACTS: To see clearly the elements of refusing the works of the flesh and living in the spirit
Principle: to learn to walk in the spirit each day of our lives.
Application : to daily refuse to do the deeds of the flesh and instead to obey the promptings of the spirit.
INTRODUCTION
We need to be so aware of true spiritual life and so used to practicing our walk in the spirit that we can help and encourage one another in its pursuit. The world at large teaches what it calls ‘’ spiritual things . They are really emotional things The scripture is clear that before we trust Christ and are born again our spirits are fatally flawed . We were spiritually dead , because we were dead in trespasses and sins. See Eph.2:1 “And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;” We had emotions and aspirations even a hunger for spiritual things, but our spirits are dead without Christ . For this reason many false religions and philosophies are spawned . We have a hunger for answers , and if we do not get the light of scripture and the right answers, we invent answers. Inventions from flawed hearts and minds are always sinful and anti-GOD, We must study the Word of God to receive correct spiritual information . As Timothy said in 2 Tim. 2:15 . Once we have the correct spiritual information . We must respond to that information positively in order to walk in true spiritual life instead of spiritual death.
OUTLINE I. THE CHRISTIAN’S CHARACTER- Gal. 5:18-24.
18 VERSE Gal. 5:18 “But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.” In verses 1-15 of this chapter Paul’s enemies argued ‘’Your doctrine of grace and liberty is dangerous! While if christians are free from the Law , they will live wicked lives. We need the law to control them . So people have argued down through the centuries, little realizing that grace, not law, is the greatest teacher and controller in the world Titus 2:11-12 “For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;” What does it means to be led of the spirit or the inner man?To “walk in the Spirit” means to have our daily lives under His control, and this means under the direction of the Word of God. To be “led of the Spirit” means to be delivered from a life of bondage to legalism.The first fruit of the Holy Spirit is love Gal. 5:22 “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,” And Gal.5:13 tells us that the way to overcome the flesh is through love. “For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.” Then Gal. 5:14 reveals that love keeps ( which is to fulfill) the Law So, putting all of this together , I believe we can say that being led of the Spirit is being led by love . Walking in the spirit will produce denying the flesh .For there is no law against those who are led by the spirit, thus producing the fruit of the spirit. The Galatians were still trying to live the Christian life, but they were going about it by self-effort, self-dependence, and the principle of the Law The spirit and the Law contrasted and shown to be opposed to one another . The spirits ability to deliver from sin is quite different from the Law’s ability to self-effort. Those who live according to law depend on the energy of the flesh while those who live by grace depend on the power of the Spirit, The law does not free us from sin’s power; it reveals our sin and points us to the one who removes sins and its consequences. Gal. 3:24 “Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.” So only when we’re led by the spirit are we not under the Law. The Holy Spirit does not lead us to act in anyway that God does not approve of.
19 verse Gal.5:19 “Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,” Even though we’re saved and have been sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise , We can still do that which is wrong . Paul is giving a clearly defined standard to show whether or not a person is bing led by the Holy Spirit or the flesh. If a person is walking after the flesh or being led by the flesh , he will manifest the works of the flesh . Paul categorizes these actions in four areas . 1. Sensual results - fornication or prostitution ,uncleaness meaning moral impurity(including homosexuality as in Rom. 1:24 and Rom. 1:27.) and lasciviousness or debauchery which is (promiscuity such as premarital or extramarital sexual relationships and things of that nature., and excessive indulgence in sensual pleasures.
2. False worship- idolatry , and sorcery or witchcraft.
3. Personal and Social relations- hatred (personal animosities ) variance -strife , rivalry , and discord. emulations-(jealousies of an unnatural kind ) Wrath, strife _factions and division within the body. Seditions-divisions among individuals and between married couples> Heresies and envyings . These are persona and social results of walking in the flesh,
4. Intemperance- or sins against ourselves such as drunkeness , revelings or orgies.
20 verse Gal.5:20 “Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,” As I alluded to earlier after the sexual sins , paul cites two religious sins, Idolatry involved the worship of pagan gods by bowing to idols, and because of its mention just after the listing of sexual sins it probably includes the male and female prostitution so often a part of heathen religion. And we also know that we can make anything a god in our life , Witchcraft is the translation of the Greek word pharmakeia from which the term “pharmacy” comes. In ancient times the worship of evil powers was accompanied by the use of drugs to create trances. This vice will also be prominent in the Tribulation period (cf. Rev. 9:21; 18:23).Eight societal evils are then listed (the last one in Gal. 5:21). Hatred (echthrai) is in the plural form, denoting primarily a feeling of enmity between groups. Discord (eris) is the natural result of “hatred” and no doubt a problem in the Galatian church. Jealousy (zēlos) refers not to the godly form but to the sinful and self-centered type. (These two words, eris and zelos, are also listed in Rom. 13:13.) Fits of rage (thymoi) or outbursts of temper, often come as a final eruption of smoldering jealousy. Selfish ambition (eritheiai) is a self-aggrandizing attitude which shows itself in working to get ahead at other’s expense (cf. Phil. 2:3). Dissensions (dichostasiai) and factions (haireseis) describe what happens when people quarrel over issues or personalities, causing hurtful divisions.
21 Verse Gal.5:21 “Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.” Here Paul continues to list the works of the flesh . Envy (phthonoi) is an evil feeling, a wrongful desire to possess what belongs to someone else. Thus the sinful nature is seen to be responsible for the breakdown of interpersonal relationships in homes, churches, and in public society.Two sins associated with alcohol fall in a fourth category of evils. Drunkenness (methai) refers to excessive use of strong drink by individuals, and orgies (kōmoi) probably refers to the drunken carousings commonly associated with such things as the worship of Bacchus, the god of wine. Finally, to show that this long list was only representative and not exhaustive, Paul added the words and the like. Having listed all these works of the flesh . Paul pointe out that people who practice these thing will not enter the kingdom of God. These are characteristics of unsaved people . However, Christians can commit these acts also.The apostle was solemnly warning the Galatians, as he had done when he was in their midst, that those who live like this, who habitually indulge in these fleshly sins will not inherit the future kingdom of God. Does this mean that any Christian who is guilty of something listed here has lost his or her salvation ? Definitely not. For we are saved by grace through faith, our faith in Jesus Christ and the faith of Jesus christ. Not of works lest any man should boast .Also where sin abounds grace much more abound . Should we continue in sin that grace may bound God forbid. The phrase shall not inherit the Kingdom of God” may be rendered as ‘’ will not enjoy having God ruling them. It may be also that Paul is dealing with that which is habitual practice as over against that which a believer simply falls into on an occasional basis. Therefore ,this does not say that a Christian loses his salvation if he lapses into a sin of the flesh, but that a person who lives continually on such a level of moral corruption gives evidence of not being a child of God. When we fulfill the desires of the flesh we find that our hunger for them grows. The more we feed the flesh , the more we learn that we are never able to satisfy its appetite as it grows stronger and stronger the more its fed.. If we continue our moral compass keeps being pushed until one day we has lost our moral perspective completely .See 1 Cor. 6:9 “Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,”
See EPH.5:5 “For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.”
Col.3:5-6 “Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: For which things’ sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:”

Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you: but ye are washed,( how in the precious blood of the lamb and continue to be washed by the regeneration of the word) but ye are sanctified,(Sanctified how , set apart because Jesus became our sanctification ) but ye are justified( justified means Jesus redemptive work caused God the father to see us Just as if we had never sinned or was never a sinner) as noted in Eph.1:7 “In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;” in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.” ALSO noted in Acts13:38-39 “Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins: And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.”
and as the old saying goes, check yourself before you wreck yourself.
22 Verse Gal:5:22 “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,” A pointed contrast is noted here with verse 16. Gal. 5:16 “This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.” There is no need for a believer to display the works of the flesh. According to Rom. 6:14 “For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.” As we learned in the lesson last week Grace teaches us to live Godly lives. By the Spirit’s power he can manifest the nine graces that are now listed. It is important to observe that the fruit here described is not produced by a believer, but by the Holy Spirit working through a Christian who is in vital union with Christ (cf. John 15:1–8). The word “fruit” is singular, indicating that these qualities constitute a unity, all of which should be found in a believer who lives under the control of the Spirit. In an ultimate sense this “fruit” is simply the life of Christ lived out in a Christian. It also points to the method whereby Christ is formed in a believer (cf. 2 Cor. 3:18; Phil. 1:21) Grace is also said to be the fruit of the spirit because it wholly proceeds from the spirit, as the fruit does from the root.This fruit is the product of the Holy Spirit , not our efforts. He that is joined to unto the Lord is one Spirit . Then this fruit of the spirit is also what our born -again spirits produce. Our spirit always have these attributes regardless of what we feel in our emotions. . Failure to understand this has caused many of us to think we would be hypocrites to express joy when truly we feel depressed or down. However, it’s only our soulish part that gets depressed. Our spirit is always bearing the fruit of love, joy, peace etc… if we seek to walk in the Spirit. It is actually hypocritical to let our soulish emotions ( dominate our spiritual emotiions. Because the truth is our spirits are never depressed , just our souls . Those of us who understand this have the choice of letting our soul depress us or letting the Holy Spirit , through our born again spirit release the joy, and peace and love spoke of here . Just as every man has been given the measure of faith which is also a fruit of the spirit. Faith doesn’t come and go, as some would think. The use of faith can be spasmodic or our perception of whether or not we have faith may fluctuate , but the truth is this fruit of faith is constantly in our spirit. We just have to draw it out or appropriate it by being led by the spirit, as John said in 3 John 1:2 “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.”
The first three virtues are habits of mind which find their source in God. and depicts character of the inward state of a person. Love (agapē) is listed first because it is the foundation of the other graces. God is love and loves the world (cf. 1 John 4:8; John 3:16). Such self-sacrificing love that sent Christ to die for sinners is the kind of love that believers who are Spirit-controlled manifest. Joy (chara) is a deep and abiding inner rejoicing which was promised to those who abide in Christ (cf. John 15:11). It does not depend on circumstances because it rests in God’s sovereign control of all things (cf. Rom. 8:28). Peace (eirēnē) is again a gift of Christ (cf. John 14:27). It is an inner repose and quietness, even in the face of adverse circumstances; it defies human understanding (cf. Phil. 4:7).The second triad reaches out to others, or is said to be outward expression toward men, These graces are fortified by love, joy, and peace. Patience (makrothymia) is the quality of forbearance under provocation (cf. 2 Cor. 6:6; Col. 1:11; 3:12). It entertains no thoughts of retaliation even when wrongfully treated. Kindness (chrēstotēs) is benevolence in action such as God demonstrated toward men. Since God is kind toward sinners (cf. Rom. 2:4; Eph. 2:7) a Christian should display the same virtue (cf. 2 Cor. 6:6; Col. 3:12). Goodness (agathōsynē) may be thought of both as an uprightness of soul and as an action reaching out to others to do good even when it is not deserved.
23 Verse Gal. 5:23 “Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.” The final three graces guide the general conduct of a believer who is led by the Spirit. It is said to be the upward expression of character toward God . Faithfulness OR faith was mentioned in the previous verse but belongs to these groups of graces(pistis) is the quality which renders a person trustworthy or reliable, like the faithful servant in Luke 16:10–12. Gentleness (prautēs) marks a person who is submissive to God’s Word (cf. James 1:21) and who is considerate of others when discipline is needed (cf. “gently” in Gal. 6:1; 2 Tim. 2:25; “gentle” in 1 Cor. 4:21; Eph. 4:2; “gentleness” in Col. 3:12; 1 Peter 3:16). Self-control (enkrateia; this noun is used in the NT only here and in Acts 24:25; 2 Peter 1:6) denotes self-mastery and no doubt primarily relates to curbing the fleshly impulses just described. Such a quality is impossible to attain apart from the power of God’s Spirit (cf. Gal. 5:16). As a final summary statement Paul affirmed that there are no prohibitions (lit., there is not a law) against such virtues Concerning these things, or those in whom these fruits of the Spirit are found, the apostle says, There is no law against them, to condemn and punish them. It appears that they are not under the law, but under grace; for these fruits of the Spirit, in whomsoever they are found, plainly show that such are led by the Spirit, and consequently that they are not under the law, as v. 18. And as, by specifying these works of the flesh and fruits of the Spirit, the apostle directs us both what we are to avoid and oppose and what we are to cherish and cultivate, so (v. 24) he informs us that this is the sincere care and endeavour of all real Christians
24 Verse Gal. 5:24 “And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.” Have crucified here is in the aoritst tnest suggesting an action that took place in the past. Paul explained that believers lit. those who are of Christ Jesus , need not be responsive to the sinful nature because they have crucified it. This does not refer to self crucifixion or self -mortification . Rather it refers to the fact that by means of the baptism of the Holy Spirit, Christians were identified with Christ in His death and resurrection, ROM. 6:3 “Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?” .And those that are Christ’s, (those who are Christians indeed, not only in show and profession, but in sincerity and truth), have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts ,so they are now sincerely employing themselves herein, and, in conformity to their Lord and head, are endeavouring to die unto sin, as he had died for it. They have not yet obtained a complete victory over it; they have still flesh as well as Spirit in them, and that has its affections and lusts, which continue to give them no little disturbance, but as it does not now reign in their mortal bodies, so as that they obey it in the lusts thereof (Rom. 6:12), so they are seeking the utter ruin and destruction of it, and to put it to the same shameful and ignominious, though lingering death, which our Lord Jesus underwent for our sakes. Note, If we should approve ourselves to be Christ’s, such as are united to him and interested in him, we must make it our constant care and business to crucify the flesh with its corrupt affections and lusts. Christ will never own those as his who yield themselves the servants of sin. But though the apostle here only mentions the crucifying of the flesh with the affections and lusts, as the care and character of real Christians, yet, no doubt, it is also implied that, on the other hand, we should show forth those fruits of the Spirit which he had just before been specifying; this is no less our duty. It is not enough that we cease to do evil, but we must learn to do well. Our Christianity obliges us not only to die unto sin, but to live unto righteousness; not only to oppose the works of the flesh, but to bring forth the fruits of the Spirit too. If therefore we would make it appear that we do indeed belong to Christ, this must be our sincere care and endeavour as well as the other; and that it was the design of the apostle to represent both the one and the other of these as our duty, and as necessary to support our character as Christians, may be gathered from what follows (v. 25), where he adds, If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit; that is, “If we profess to have received the Spirit of Christ, or that we are renewed in the Spirit of Christ, or that we are renewed in the spirit of our minds, and endued with a principle of spiritual life, let us make it appear by the proper fruits of the Spirit in our lives.” He had before told us that the Spirit of Christ is a privilege bestowed on all the children of God, ch. Gal.4:6 “And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.”
Paul declared that this had been his experience, in Gal. 2:20 “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.” See also Rom.6:6 “Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.” And Rom. 6:11 “Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
While co-crucifixion took place potentially at the cross, it becomes effective for believers when they are converted. This does not mean that their sin nature is then eradicated or even rendered inactive but that it has been judged, a fact believers should reckon to be true (cf. Rom. 6:11–12). So victory over the sinful nature’s passions and desires has been provided by Christ in His death. Faith must continually lay hold of this truth or a believer will be tempted to try to secure victory by self-effort.
II OUTLINE THE CHRISTIAN ‘S CONDUCT Gal. 5:25-6:10.
25 Verse Gal. 5:25 “If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.” This is similar to Paul’s terminology in Roman 8 . All Christians are in the spirit even if they walk after the flesh . The words ‘’in ‘’and ‘’ after’’ denotes a fixed place or position. After denotes a lifestyle . So Christians are in Christ and should walk after Christ . But it is possible for a person who is in Christ to walk after the flesh , but a true Christian cannot be in the flesh Rom. 8:9. We are now new creatures in Christ 2 Cor.5:17. and have a new indentity which is our spiritual man , not the flesh . Likewise an unbeliever might try to walk after Christ , but the truth is they will always be in the flesh until they put their faith in Christ alone . All born again Christians are living by the Spirit of God , but that doesn’t mean they are waling after (or in ) the Spirit. Living in the Spirit is referring to a reality that automatically accompanies the new birth.Walking in the spirit is referring to the way a believer should conduct themselves after salvation. The first is a fixed position . The second is conditional , depending on how they renew their minds and yield to the Holy Spirit.
26 Verse Gal. 5:26 “Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.”Paul concludes this chapter with a caution against pride and envy in vs 13 Gal.5:13. He had been exhorting these Christians by love to serve one another.If we esteem others better than we do ourselves .we can avoid being desirous of vain glory.See, Philippians 2:3 “Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.” The apostle Paul would have us to watch us against
1.The glory which from men is vain-glory, which, instead of being desirous of, we should be dead to. (2.) An undue regard to the approbation and applause of men is one great ground of the unhappy strifes and contentions that exist among Christians.
Also Christian walk should conform to the Spirit’s direction and enablement, lest believers become conceited, provoking and envying each other. These traits would be true of a walk in the flesh (cf. Gal. 5:19–21) and may point to divisions in the Galatian churches occasioned by the Judaizing error (cf. v. Gal. 5: 15).
1 VERSE Gal. 6:1 “Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.” The word overtaken means or carries the idea of a surprise. Paul is saying that if one falls into sin or is caught by a sin. We all need spiritual realignment now and then . sometime we fall into temptation by choice, sometimes we fall into sin by ignorance. Either way , we need to repent and turn away from that sin. Those who are walking after the spirit or his christian sister and brethren should restore him , in a spirit of meekness and gentleness being mindful or conscious that no one is immune from falling into sin, 1Cor. 10:12 “Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.”
2 Verse Gal.6:2 “Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.” A serving Christian lends a helping hand with heavy loads. The strong should bear the infirmities of the weak . Those who are more mature in faith should look out for those who are struggling with sin. In bearing one another burdens one is producing the fruit of love. Christ said a new commandment that I give unto you, that you love one another.See John 13:34 “A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.” We are to help our brothers and sisters in Christ overcome the works of the flesh and encourage them to walk in the spirit,
3 VERSE Gal. 6:3 “For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself.” Do nothing through strife nor vain-glory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Note, Self-conceit is but self-deceit: as it is inconsistent with that charity we owe to others (for charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, 1 Co. 13:4), so it is a cheat upon ourselves; and there is not a more dangerous cheat in the world than self-deceit.
4 verse Gal.6:4 “But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another.” As a means of preventing this evil, of self -deceit one must do what is mentioned in this verse. This means that rather than comparing himself with others he should step back and take an objective look at himself and his accomplishments. Then he can take pride in himself over what God has done in and through his life, Rom.12:3 “For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.” also see Matt. 7:3-5 “And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye.”
5verse Gal 6:5 “For every man shall bear his own burden.” This verse seems to conflict with verse 2. Paul used a different word for burden here. This burden is not sin or its consequences but the work of verse 4 or the normal duty which fall upon every man. The Christian does in fact test himself by carrying his own load. This does not contradict verse 2 because the reference there is to heavy, crushing, loads (barē)—more than a man could carry without help. In this verse a different Greek word (phortion) is used to designate the pack usually carried by a marching soldier. It is the “burden” Jesus assigns to His followers (cf. Matt. 11:30). There are certain Christian responsibilities or burdens each believer must bear which cannot be shared with others. Jesus assured His disciples that such burdens were light.
6 verse Gal. 6:6 “Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things.” The amplified bible translates this verse as let him who receives instruction in the word of God share all good things with his teacher (contributing to his support) You who are taught are supposed to share financially with those who taught you. One responsibility of each believer is to shoulder the financial support of the pastor -teaches in the church . Perhaps the Judaizers had influenced some of the believers to slack off in their support of the teachers , a special group who were giving their full time to this ministry and who were reimbursed for their labors.1 Cor. 9:7-14 .
7 Verse Gal. 6:7 “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” This verse elaborates on the previous exhortation ,First a solemn warning is sounded that God cannot be mocked . No man can snub or turn up the nose at God whose rule , a man reaps what he sow, is immutable. If he sows bountifully he shall reap bountifully. If he sows sparingly he shall reap sparingly .
8 verse Gal.6:8 “For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.” Each sower decides what his harvest will be. ver.If a person sows to please his sinful nature, that is if he spends his money to indulge his flesh , he will reap a harvest that will fade into oblivion . On the other hand if he uses his fund to support the Lords work or sows to please the spirit and promotes his own spiritual growth, he will reap a harvest that will last fore. The same with sowing to the spirit vs the flesh in our spiritual life, this law also holds true
9 verse Gal 6:9 “And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” The reward of godly living is not always immediately evident, so there is temptation to grow weary of the commitment to do good. Weariness only comes overtime . No one gets weary instantly.Paul was giving the exhortation because this law of sowing and reaping takes time to work. There is a due season when our harvest comes and we must remain in faith until harvest time,. Spiritual weariness takes place in our minds. As the writer in Hebrews said ‘For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself , lest ye be wearied and faint in your mind, Heb. 12:3.
10 Verse Gal. 6:10 “As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.” Christians have a measure of responsibility to all people to do good, when the occasions arise. When Jesus fed the 5,000, both saved and unsaved participated. So the benevolence of Christians should not be restricted, except that believers are to have the priority. As in a home, family needs are met first, then those of the neighbors.
This passage then speaks clearly about Christian social responsibility, but it should be noted that it is addressed to individual believers. The church is not an agency for social work, though individual Christians are charged to minister in this way as they are able and have opportunity (cf. Rom. 12:17–2 “Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men. Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.”
In conclusion Again, Paul mentions his own crucifixion (6:14, see 2:20). Salvation means Christ died for me—(He was my substitution;)sanctification means I died with Christ—( this is my identification). “These false teachers belong to the world and are living for the world,” states the apostle. “The world has no attraction for me: I have been crucified to the world, and the world has been crucified to me.” Today, the cross is often a polished piece of jewelry; back in Paul’s day, the cross was a shameful instrument of pain and death. “Religion” has made the cross a symbol; the Spirit makes the cross a reality in the life of the Christian who lives by grace.
The whole point of the Christian life is to live a life led by the Holy Spirit, which produces fruit , please God and reveal to a dying world that we are his children. Christ died to give us life and life more abundantly. Sure we’re saved and heaven is our home and this is wonderful, but so is life on earth filled with the presence and power of the Lord.
