Introduction:

' “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? ' Matthew 6:25
Today, I want to talk to you about something that affects each one of us at some point in our lives - worry.
We worry about our health, our finances, our relationships, our future, and so much more.
However, as Christians, we are called to let go of our worries and trust in God's plan for our lives. In this sermon, we will explore what the Bible says about worry, and how we can overcome it with faith and gratitude.
5 of the biggest topics most of us worry about.
Finances
Food
Fitness

Fashion

Future

The Bible tells us not to worry.

Financial worries: Many people worry about money, especially in uncertain economic times. The Bible provides numerous examples of God's provision and encourages us to trust in Him to meet our needs.

"Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, 'Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.'" - Hebrews 13:5
"And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus." - Philippians 4:19

Health worries: Health concerns can cause significant anxiety, but the Bible reminds us of God's healing power and the importance of caring for our bodies.

"Heal me, Lord, and I will be healed; save me and I will be saved, for you are the one I praise." - Jeremiah 17:14
"Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies." - 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

Relationship worries: Relationships can be a source of worry, whether it's concern over a loved one's well-being or anxiety about conflicts in our own relationships. The Bible provides guidance on how to love and treat others, even in difficult circumstances.

"A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a time of adversity." - Proverbs 17:17
"Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen." - Ephesians 4:29
These are just a few examples, but the Bible contains countless verses that can provide comfort and guidance when we are worried or anxious.
As Christians, we are called to trust in God and not worry about the future.
Jesus himself tells us in
Matthew 6:25-27, "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Isn't life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?"
Brothers and sisters, let us remember that worrying does not add anything to our lives, but instead it takes away our peace and joy. Let us trust in God's provision and care for us, just as the Psalmist says in
Psalm 55:22, "Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken."
Psalm 55:22 NIV
Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.
Quote: Charles Spurgeon once said, "Anxiety does not empty tomorrow of its sorrows, but only empties today of its strength."

the difference between concern and worry.

Concern focuses on challenges and moves you to action.
You think—My marriage is struggling—Concern—Get counseling. Gained 12 pounds—Concern—Cut back on soft drinks.
Concern focuses on challenges and moves you to action.
Worry focuses on what’s beyond our control and results in inaction.

Worrying shows a lack of faith.

When we worry, we are essentially telling God that we do not trust Him to take care of us.
We are doubting His goodness and His ability to provide for us.
What you worry about most reveals where you trust God the least.
What is it for you?
Relationship? Health concern? Financial fear? Personal insecurity? You won’t measure up? Not good enough? Don’t have what it takes?
This is why Jesus says in
Matthew 6:30, "If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith?"
Brothers and sisters, let us have faith in God's promises and trust that He will provide for us. Let us remember the words of
Hebrews 11:1, "Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see."

Prayer and gratitude can help us overcome worry.

When we feel worried or anxious, we can turn to God in prayer and thank Him for His blessings in our lives.
Philippians 4:6-7 says, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
Brothers and sisters, let us make it a habit to pray and give thanks to God, even in the midst of our worries. Let us trust that He will provide for us and give us the peace that surpasses all understanding.

Conclusion:

Closing …
If you are worried today—Remember …
What you worry about most reveals where you trust God the least.
If there’s something heavy on your heart, a worry, a fear, a burden, let’s put God first and cast our cares on him because he cares.
If you want to trust God with something you’ve been worried about, lift your hands
