REVELATION - The Interlude and the 144,000 part 7
As I come up to the pulpit
SLIDE 1 “WELCOME We Are Glad You Are Here”
Words of encouragement from worship
Worship Team disperses / everyone seated
What would you think is God’s most powerful force on this earth?
What Jesus left to represent everything that is about Him?
The church and being the church not to be taken lightly!
Could this all this be about worship?
It seems to be the Lord focusing many preachers and teachers of God’s word, “Believers get a hold or control of your thought life”
SLIDE 2
2 Corinthians 10:4–5 NLT
4 We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments. 5 We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ.
SLIDE 3
Psalm 19:7 NLT
7 The instructions of the Lord are perfect, reviving the soul. The decrees of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple.
That part making wise the simple in Hebrew definition is “giving special understanding to those who could not understand”
SLIDE 4 “REVELATION - The Interlude and the 144,000 image slide”
These questions play right into the message the Lord has for us today
The church will not be here someday
What will be the state of many who did not come to know the Lord or receive His forgiveness when they had the chance?
“If you don’t know how to share the gospel, invite people to church”
BTW did you hear revival “return to God” reported now at Texas AM 600 students worshipping God, 100 saved 61 baptised
Jesus Revolution movie #3 in box office / could be at a better time
Would we bow or surrender to the presence of God here at the Road / What would that look like?
What does God have to say about revival
SLIDE 5
Psalm 85:6 NASB95
6 Will You not Yourself revive us again, That Your people may rejoice in You?
SLIDE 6
Psalm 69:32 NASB95
32 The humble have seen it and are glad; You who seek God, let your heart revive.
SLIDE 7
Psalm 80:18 NASB95
18 Then we shall not turn back from You; Revive us, and we will call upon Your name.
SLIDE 8
Psalm 71:20 NASB95
20 You who have shown me many troubles and distresses Will revive me again, And will bring me up again from the depths of the earth.
SLIDE 9
Psalm 119:154 NASB95
154 Plead my cause and redeem me; Revive me according to Your word.
SLIDE 10
Psalm 119:88 NASB95
88 Revive me according to Your lovingkindness, So that I may keep the testimony of Your mouth.
How about the story of the church in Missouri a week ago? The 4 gunned men that entered and sat down on the back row. At or near the end of worship. The pastor who used to be a police officer spotted them.
The church will not be here someday / Let us take advantage of our opportunities right now
What will be the state of many who did not come to know the Lord or receive His forgiveness when they had the chance?
SLIDE 11
Revelation 6:16 NASB95
16 and they said to the mountains and to the rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the presence of Him who sits on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb;
We know from the 6th seal of the scroll that was broken, the events that will take place “great earthquake, sun became black and whole moon became as blood”
SLIDE 12
Revelation 6:17 NASB95
17 for the great day of their wrath has come, and who is able to stand?”
The redeemed of the Lord!
Well we saw the 144,000 of the tribes of Israel that have been sealed and to be eternally with Christ
Hey did you know you and I - as Gentiles are getting to be part of that?
One for Israel
Lets now look at the Gentiles sealed for eternity
SLIDE 13
Revelation 7:9 NASB95
9 After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could count, from every nation and all tribes and peoples and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, and palm branches were in their hands;
This is the picture of the 7th and last feast being fulfilled in Christ Jesus - Messiah
This also gives us a place in time of Revelation / Trumpets, Day of Atonement, Tabernacles
We will see that again in the verse ahead
SLIDE 14
Revelation 7:10 NASB95
10 and they cry out with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb.”
SLIDE 15
Revelation 7:11 NASB95
11 And all the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures; and they fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God,
SLIDE 16
Revelation 7:12 NASB95
12 saying, Amen, blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might, be to our God forever and ever. Amen.”
SLIDE 17
Revelation 7:13 NASB95
13 Then one of the elders answered, saying to me, “These who are clothed in the white robes, who are they, and where have they come from?”
SLIDE 18
Revelation 7:14 NASB95
14 I said to him, “My lord, you know.” And he said to me, “These are the ones who come out of the great tribulation, and they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
SLIDE 19
Revelation 7:15 NASB95
15 “For this reason, they are before the throne of God; and they serve Him day and night in His temple; and He who sits on the throne will spread His tabernacle over them.
SLIDE 20
Revelation 7:16–17 NASB95
16 “They will hunger no longer, nor thirst anymore; nor will the sun beat down on them, nor any heat; 17 for the Lamb in the center of the throne will be their shepherd, and will guide them to springs of the water of life; and God will wipe every tear from their eyes.”
Last week we saw the tribes of Israel / the 144,00 who had been sealed and how two tribes who were always mentioned in the list of tribes in the Old Testament were now not in Revelation chapter 7
Could this be about worship? The Lord seems to really be making a point to us about this.
We were shown the story last week about Rehaboam and Jeraboam the two kings in Israel after Solomon had died
The timing for this today and having the Lord’s Supper is pretty amazing
There was more to this than Jeraboam taking 10 of the twelve tribes to worship somewhere besides Jerusalem
Ephraim and Dan are not mentioned of the 12 tribes in Rev 7 of the 144,000
We have been shown in God’s word how the divine council, the sons of God had rebelled and one goal is to corrupt mankind
Israel would be the nation God made and selected to be the nation set apart from the other nations corrupted by these gods.
Israel would soon find out right out of Egypt just after so many great miracles / cannot wait 40 days for Moses on the mountain / builds the golden calf (the Hebrew word for calf is bull) the bull represents the god Baal
Where would Israel have learned this from? The other nations of the sons of God (fallen ones)
They would have learned this while in Egypt as was the main god all others came out of
This would be the snare for the nation Israel - worship of Baal the calf or the bull
As Israel gets to the where they are today, God gives each tribe its land of inheritance through Moses and Joshua
But what is probably the most significant thing God did with King David? After all this with the other nations, the temptation to worship Baal. What did God use King David for to push back these God’s?
King David established an amazing power and intervention through intimate worship of God (Davidic Worship)
So after King David dies, his son king Solomon builds the temple in Jerusalem on Mt Moriah
After he dies Rehaboam takes the advice of immature council and forces excess labor and splits the kingdom
Jerabaom becomes king of 10 tribes and takes them north to worship
SLIDE 21 “NATION OF ISRAEL MAP IMAGE SLIDE”
Ephraim is the other nation omitted in Revelation 7 Dan and Ephraim, many times Ephraim is another name for Israel because so strong in O.T.
This where Jeraboam had taken the 10 tribes to worship what?
Two golden calves (Bulls)
This would be more serious than just taken a bunch of people to worship........king David’s worship had been started .... the new Temple is built........God’s chosen nation for what main thing? to worship Him alone
Why is this significant for the Lord’s supper today?
Jesus said do this in “Remembrance of Me”
Look at this
SLIDE 22
Psalm 22:1–3 NASB95
1 My God, my God, why have You forsaken me? Far from my deliverance are the words of my groaning. 2 O my God, I cry by day, but You do not answer; And by night, but I have no rest. 3 Yet You are holy, O You who are enthroned upon the praises of Israel.
SLIDE 23
Psalm 22:4–6 NASB95
4 In You our fathers trusted; They trusted and You delivered them. 5 To You they cried out and were delivered; In You they trusted and were not disappointed. 6 But I am a worm and not a man, A reproach of men and despised by the people.
SLIDE 24
Psalm 22:7–9 NASB95
7 All who see me sneer at me; They separate with the lip, they wag the head, saying, 8 “Commit yourself to the Lord; let Him deliver him; Let Him rescue him, because He delights in him.” 9 Yet You are He who brought me forth from the womb; You made me trust when upon my mother’s breasts.
SLIDE 25
Psalm 22:10 NASB95
10 Upon You I was cast from birth; You have been my God from my mother’s womb.
Last Sunday I had shared about where Jeraboam had taken the northern tribes to worship and where they built these two idle calves (bulls) of gold
Brother Jack had come up to me and was telling me “man that was no small thing, that area of Mt Hermon and Bashan was a big deal and a huge spiritual war that had taken place from that event
SLIDE 26
Psalm 22:11–13 NASB95
11 Be not far from me, for trouble is near; For there is none to help. 12 Many bulls have surrounded me; Strong bulls of Bashan have encircled me. 13 They open wide their mouth at me, As a ravening and a roaring lion.
SLIDE 27
Psalm 22:14–16 NASB95
14 I am poured out like water, And all my bones are out of joint; My heart is like wax; It is melted within me. 15 My strength is dried up like a potsherd, And my tongue cleaves to my jaws; And You lay me in the dust of death. 16 For dogs have surrounded me; A band of evildoers has encompassed me; They pierced my hands and my feet.
SLIDE 28
Psalm 22:17–19 NASB95
17 I can count all my bones. They look, they stare at me; 18 They divide my garments among them, And for my clothing they cast lots. 19 But You, O Lord, be not far off; O You my help, hasten to my assistance.
SLIDE 29
Psalm 22:20–22 NASB95
20 Deliver my soul from the sword, My only life from the power of the dog. 21 Save me from the lion’s mouth; From the horns of the wild oxen You answer me. 22 I will tell of Your name to my brethren; In the midst of the assembly I will praise You.
