THE WORD SERIES

JOHN FOCUS ON WHO JESUS WAS more than what Jesus did.

There is more doctrine than facts

It was his private conversations, his conflicts and his deep relationship with his disciples.

John uses the word truth 25x in john 20x in 1.2.3 80x talks about love but 100x he says believe

John wants us to believe the truth of love Believe

Johns purpose it to convince sinners of the true person of Jesus

John 20:31  (ESV)

31 but these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.

John 1:1 (ESV)

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

John 1:14 (ESV)

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.

Became.. means made step from heaven to earth

John introduces them to the Personal one who created and is responsible for it.

Colossians 1:16 (ESV)

Hebrews 1:2-3 (ESV)

IF it is through jesus all things where created.. then jesus was uncreated.

What Is the Word?

Jesus is light

John 1:4-9 (ESV)4 In him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. 6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. 7 He came as a witness, to bear witness about the light, that all might believe through him. 8 He was not the light, but came to bear witness about the light. 9 The true light, which gives light to everyone, was coming into the world.

Psalm 119:130 (ESV)

The unfolding of your words gives light;     it imparts understanding to the simple.

Jesus is life

John 10-13 (ESV)

10 He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world did not know him. 11 He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him. 12 But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, 13 who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.

The word life is used 36x 11x with the word eternal

The word is grace upon grace full of truth

John 1:14,16-18 (ESV)

14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth 16 For from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace. 17 For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. 18 No one has ever seen God; the only God, who is at the Father's side, he has made him known.

Jesus reveals the truth about us, the world and His fathers redemption for his people by believing in his son.
