Mark 8:22 - 26

22  And he cometh to Bethsaida; and they
bring a blind man unto him, and besought
him to touch him.
23  And he took the blind man by the
hand, and led him out of the town; and
when he had spit on his eyes, and put his
hands upon him, he asked him if he saw
ought.
24  And he looked up, and said, I see men
as trees, walking.
25  After that he put his hands again upon
his eyes, and made him look up: and he
was restored, and saw every man clearly.
26  And he sent him away to his house,
saying, Neither go into the town, nor tell it
to any in the town.
Last week I preached to you during the
District Tour about Jesus healing a man
with leprosy by touching him. The sermon
was entitled, HE TOUCHED ME!
So today there is another healing that
Jesus performed that I would like to share
with you today.
In fact the title of today’s sermon is
LORD TOUCH ME AGAIN
SERMON POINTS
MarK 8:22  And he cometh to Bethsaida; and they bring a blind man unto him, and besought him to touch him.
1 - TAKE IT TO JESUS
In this verse we read that some people
took a blind mean to Jesus. We are not
told how many people or the names of
the people.
We are not told the name of the blind
man. What we do know is that when Jesus
and the disciples arrived in Bethsaida
some people took a blind man to Jesus
and begged Jesus to touch him.
1Peter 5:7  Casting all your care upon him;
for he careth for you. KJV
TLB. Let him have all your worries and cares, for he is always thinking about you and watching everything that concerns you. *
2Chronicles 16:9 NIV For the eyes of the LORD range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him. *
TAKE IT TO JESUS
Mark 8:23  And he took the blind man by the hand, and led him out of the town; and when he had spit on his eyes, and put his hands upon him, he asked him if he saw ought.
2 - SOMETIMES WE NEED A ONE ON ONE WITH JESUS.
Jesus could have healed this man in front
of his friends and others but he chose not
to. Why? One reason could be to establish
a one on one relationship with him.
Sometimes we need one on one time with
God. Even Jesus would go into a solitary
place and pray to his father. *
Also Jesus could have taken this man
outside of town as a testimony against the
people of Bethsaida because of their
unbelief. Jesus had just recently
performed a miracle with a few fish and a
few loaves of bread. We need to
understand that this town was the home
town of Phillip, Andrew and Peter.
Matthew 11:20  Then Jesus began to
denounce the towns in which most of his
miracles had been performed, because
they did not repent.
21  "Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the miracles that were performed in you had been performed in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.
Jesus was speaking a solemn,
compassionate declaration of the misery
they were bringing on themselves.
Chorazin and Bethsaida were cities of
Galilee, standing by the lake Gennesareth.
Tyre and Sidon were cities of Phenicia,
lying on the sea shore. The inhabitants of
them were heathens. *
Most people would agree that spitting on
some one is offensive. Jesus was not
weak in this healing but this was to
demonstrate how the disciples and
some of us are. Even though Jesus had
touched him for he was not totally blind
now, his sight was out of focus.
Sometimes we see what God is showing but we don’t see it clearly. *
SOMETIMES WE NEED A ONE ON ONE WITH JESUS.
24  And he looked up, and said, I see men as trees, walking.
25  After that he put his hands again upon his eyes, and made him look up: and he was restored, and saw every man clearly.
26  And he sent him away to his house, saying, Neither go into the town, nor tell it to any in the town.
3 - SOMETIMES WE NEED A SECOND TOUCH.
This once blind man now could see but he
saw men looking like trees. But they were
walking. And we know that trees don’t
walk. So Jesus touched him again and the
man saw clearly. That second touch
cleared up anything that was blocking his
vision. That second touch for us will clear
up any hate left in our hearts. It will clear
up any envy running through our veins.
The second touch will allow you to see
people who are blocking your way to
serving God. *
After this Jesus instructs the man to not
go back into town. And don’t tell anyone
in the town. Christ didn’t want the
unbelieving people of Bethsaida to see
this miracle or be told about it. Jesus had
performed miracles but many still didn’t
believe in him. Jesus also knew that he
had more work to do and he didn’t want
his fame getting out to soon.
Sight was a widely used metaphor for
understanding. This miracle depicts the
correct but incomplete understanding of
the disciples. *
If God has begun a good work in you, you need to believe what Paul wrote in,
Philippians 1:6  Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:
But sometimes we have been through so
much that we need a second touch from
the Lord.
Lord touch me again!!!
We need to reach back and say as the
saints of old would say, pass me not O
gentle Savior, hear my humble cry. While
on others Thou art calling do not pass me
by.
Lord touch me again!!!
