Exegesis:
The Spirit is our consciousness of God
2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
The Soul is our consciousness of self
7 The law of the Lord is perfect, refreshing the soul. The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple.
The Body is our consciousness of the world
25 “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence.
26 Blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and dish, and then the outside also will be clean.
Benediction:
Sometimes the struggle we see on the outside is a reflection of what we have on the inside.
So we have to allow God to change our spirit. Once that happens, our soul is changed. When our soul is changed by the spirit, the flesh falls in line.
We just have is backwards, we are trying to get our flesh to fall in line without allowing help from the spirit.
